Post Katrina Puppy by René

Near New Orleans a small oil-slickened dog was seen wandering in Chalmette, Louisiana, as cleanup crews recovered oil from a ruptured refinery tank on September 6, 2005. Tens of thousands of barrels of oil had spilled and mixed with receding floodwater from Hurricane Katrina.

Wow, are you serious. Governor Bobby Jindal said that one of the unspoken miracles of Hurricane Katrina was the fact there were no oil spills! Even McCain was caught repeating that a time or two on his campaign trail.

Trust me, I know better. I was stationed in that area for a year, six months in '02, and six months in '07, and seen the damaged coastline. And my job as a meteorologist allowed me some insight into the environment damage that occurred from the catastrophic oil spills, as described by state and federal agencies.

Well, that's what he said. But... what does he actually know? added more info in comment to the story with links to tech reports.
