YOU CAN call her the hazy heiress.

Hollywood socialite and hotel heiress Paris Hilton was arrested in the South African city of Port Elizabeth, Friday after smoking marijuana during a World Cup match, police sources said.

Hilton was arrested at 8 p.m.(SAST) while watching the Netherlands take down Brazil  and taken to a police station near the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the "Friendly City".

Officers charged Hilton with possession of marijuana, according to a police officer with knowledge of her arrest.

A South African police spokesperson in court with Hilton said she could not comment because court has yet to start.

Hilton trekked to the World Cup with her sister Nicky and updated fans about her trip and the match on Twitter.

"Had so much fun at the game today. What a match! I love South Africa! It's so beautiful here. I can't wait to go on the Safari this week and see all the amazing animals," the heiress tweeted. 

The heiress pleaded no contest in 2007 to alcohol-related reckless driving and was sentenced to 45 days in jail, she only served 23 days.
