BREAKING NEWS

The bodies of a woman Mathvathani Erambu, identified as Prabhakaran’s wife and a girl Duvaraka, identified as Prabhakaran’s daughter, and a young boy Balachandran identified as Prabhakaran’s younger son were found in the vicinity of the body of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran according to Army officials.

These bodies which have now been sent for autopsy today (May 20), were found from among those retrieved from the Nandikadal lagoon yesterday (May 19), said military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara.

A day after the Tamil Tigers, one of the world’s most feared and enduring guerrilla movements, acknowledged that their 26-year struggle for a homeland had “reached its bitter end,” the Sri Lankan military said on Monday that it had retaken the last sliver of rebel territory, and state television said the leader of the rebels was among 200 dead in a final battle.Sri Lanka’s army commander said troops had wiped out the rebels and reunited the country, Reuters reported. “We have liberated the entire country by completely liberating the north from the terrorists,” Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka said Monday.

State television said the dead included the elusive rebel chief, Vellupillai Prabhakaran.

The final battle came when Mr. Prabhakaran was surrounded early Monday with the last of his fighters, The A.P. said, quoting military officials. In a two-hour firefight, he and his most senior lieutenants drove in an armor-plated van accompanied by a bus filled with armed rebels toward approaching Sri Lankan forces.

The battle ended when troops fired a rocket at the van, The A.P. quoted the unidentified officials as saying. Contrary to General Fonseka’s account, the officials said troops pulled Mr. Prabhakaran’s body from the van and identified it.

Meanwhile, Norway, the former negotiator in the conflict, said peace was far from won in Sri Lanka, despite the government's claims.

"The conflict is not resolved even if the battle has been won," said Minister of Environment and International Development Erik Solheim, calling on the authorities to "demonstrate generosity towards the Tamil population and grant Tamils autonomy."

Your brother and our brother stopped being anyone's brother the day he took a gun and killed Alfred Durraiappah in cold blood, a man who was popular among the common Tamil people and loved by them.

The day he decided to kill Mr. Lakshman Kadirgamar, a man who was loved and respected by all Sri Lankans he kept the seal to the closure of there ever being any Peace between us and him, a maniac and mass murderer.

Now finally, hiding behind women's skirts - trying all he could to save his own a$$ by killing the Tamil people with such disregard to even appearing civil, yes he has proven his COWARDICE beyond a doubt.

Today I mourn the deaths of so many Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim lives that were taken in this cruel war and taken by this murderer. Today I mourn the deaths of Sri Lankan Defence Forces soldiers and I mourn the deaths of all LTTE cadres, suicide bombers who were killed in this senseless war in 26 years.

I don't expect you to know the qualities of VP. You guys know his image portraited by the lies of your successive governments. He is the only dedicated and brave leader of Tamils so far even though some of us were not impressed with the way he achieved things. Don't talk about selfish Tamil traitors like Mr. Lakshman Kadirgamar, who sold Tamils for his betterment. VP has been in all Tamil's heart as a real Tamil survior. You people hate him for killing few thousand people on his target attacks. Your legitimate goverment has killed so many innocent civilians on purpose and has killed more than 30,000 civilians over the last two days. I Dont know who you are and what your interest is ........... is it to save your asylum status or to save your dole but it definitly not the safety of the inncoent tamil people living in Sri Lanka. Its all vey clear to us now that the Tamil Diaspora ovearseas are vocing against this not becuase o they care about those tamils who live here ............... but becuase of losing their refugee status in Western Coutnries now that there is no war in Sri Lanka. Do not lie about the SL Army that they rape and kill innocent tamil girls etc. It is the army they have to thank for for saving their lives from the LTTE who kept them as human shields ................Have you at least been to SL of late......................... as most of the young people who shou t out on tv that there is genocide in SL have not even stepped in to Sri Lanka. the slaughter was not started by the army. Open your eyes. Tamils were a proud set of people. Educated and holding high positions before VP took over. They were reduced to a set of third class citizens by VP. Uneducated and surviving grief. Get off your high horse and help these people to their once glorious past.
