Army has confirmed that the body found in Vellamullivaikkal, is that of LTTE chief’s son Charles Anthony.

According to PTI, he had a degree in aeronautical engineering and was heading the air wing and computer unit of LTTE.

Prabhakaran's son, who returned from Ireland in 2006, is believed to have got a degree in aeronautical engineering and is heading the air wing and computer unit of LTTE, according to the reports. PTI

The Sri Lanka Defence website said that three more bodies were found and one was suspected to be the body of Sudarman who was Charles Anthony's close aide and the other two suspected of being that of  Ilango (LTTE 'Police' wing chief)and Kapil Amman( LTTE intelligence wing).

The troops also confirmed many more terrorist bodies lying scattered in the area which are yet to be identified.

According to latest battlefield reports received, the 53 and 58 Division troops including Special Forces and Commandos have uncovered the bodies, suspected to be of Ilango (LTTE 'Police' wing chief), Sudarman (Charles Anthony's close aide) and Kapil Amman( LTTE intelligence wing). The bodies were found abandoned in the area, the sources further said.

Troops also confirmed many more terrorist bodies lying scattered in the area which are yet to be identified.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — Sri Lanka's military says the eldest son of the top Tamil Tiger rebel leader has been killed in fighting.

Military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara says army troops on Monday found the body of Charles Anthony, the son of Velupillai Prabhakaran.


Although there is still no news of Velupillai Prabhakaran, rebels' political wing leader Balasingham Nadesan, head of rebels' peace secretariat Seevaratnam Puleedevan and a top military leader known as Ramesh were also killed.

Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara is yet to confirm the report and the military's claim could not be independently verified as the journalists and observers are barred from the war zone.

There has been no word yet on the whereabouts of the group's top leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran.

A senior military official says an attack Sunday night killed rebels' political wing leader Balasingham Nadesan, head of rebels' peace secretariat Seevaratnam Puleedevan and a top military leader known as Ramesh.

The official spoke Monday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media.

Military spokesman Brig. Udaya Nanayakkara said he is still verifying the reports.

The military's claim could not be independently verified as the journalists and observers are barred from the war zone.
