President Obama said today that he and the other G-20 leaders "brought the global economy back from the brink." When I read this quote from  President Obama, my mouth flew open, my eyes sunk toward the back of my head, and I felt as though I was about to have a seizure. I'll never be the same again and, quite frankly, President Obama will have to pull a rabbit out of a hat before I believe anything that he says in the future.

Many (including myself) have made a sincere and earnest attempt to give president Obama the benefit of the doubt. After all, he inherited a major economic mess from George Bush that only God Almighty would be capable of cleaning up.

President Obama's statement that he and the other G-20 leaders "brought the global economy back from the brink" flies in the face of  all economic data. And the data, for anyone that can add two and two and come up with four, is available on any number of U.S. government websites.

I never thought it possible that any other U.S. president would have the balls to out shine FDR when it came to lying about the economy. And I never thought it possible that any other U.S. president would have the balls to claim that he brought the economy back from the brink when there is no evidence to suggest that the economy has even begun to emerge from the brink.

I've got to hand it to President Obama . . . he takes the economic cake!

PITTSBURGH--President Barack Obama asserted on Friday that he and other leaders of the world's 20 largest economies took actions that "brought the global economy back from the brink" and saved or created millions of jobs.

"We leave here today confident and united," he said at the conclusion of a two-day summit to deal with the worst economic crisis since the 1930s.

"We brought the global economy back from the brink. We laid the groundwork today for long term prosperity," Obama said.

"It is important to recall the situation we faced" in April when the Group of 20 leaders last met and when talk was rampant about a second Great Depression.

In a statement issued at the conclusion of the summit, the full G-20 leadership echoed Obama's sentiment. "It worked," the statement said of stimulus and other measures taken by the world leaders.

Obama brushed off demonstrations in the city. He said they were mild compared with some in the past at international gatherings.

"I fundamentally disagree with their view that the free market is the source of all ills," he said. "Many of the protests are just directed generically at capitalism. … One of the great things about the United States is you can speak your mind."

Obama is an intelligent man. That said, it is foolish to think that we have seen the end of the economic downturn. Continuing and expanding the policies of his predecessor, he is following the example of FDR. Unfortunately, Roosevelt's policies helped keep the world in an economic hole until war revived our economy. In 1938, nine years after the start of the depression, unemployment in the US was at 18%. Hardly an example to imitate.

Thanks Rhonda! BTW: The demand for durable goods fell again in August. Durable goods orders are a major leading economic indicator as you know. Also the only significant job increases are government, education, and health care. Unemployment continues to rise and at the same time--due to the way that unemployment statistics are calculated--millions of unemployed are dropped from the calculations. In other words, there are a lot more unemployed out there than the government leads people to believe.

The reality is that the economy, for the average person, remains a train wreck. And a large percentage of those unemployed (perhaps 50% or more) will never realize the income levels that they were used to prior to the recession. Many of them will wind up flipping hamburgers or working in Home Depot or Walmart. And others will essentially leave the workforce and enter early retirement. Seniors in their 70s are looking for any kind of job that they can get. And one of the reasons for that is that their retirement investments have lost 40 to 50% of its value and they can't borrow against the equity in their homes.  Foreclosures continue to rise at record pace. Many homeowners with conventional mortgages are simply walking away from their homes because their homes are not even worth half of what they paid for them.

We are increasingly becoming a low wage service-oriented economy. i.e. Walmart and the like where a large percentage of workers are on some form of government subsistence. The outrage is that those in the banking and financial services industry continue to receive bonuses and pay raises in spite of the fact that these industries were a major cause of the financial meltdown. Also, the pay scale for workers in those industries is much higher than those in other industries with comparable education and experience. Go figure . . . .

On top of all the money he has thrown out  the word on the street is next year for the first time in 35 years the people getting their SS checks will not get the paltry...small percent raise.

How can a man stand up and brag like he does?  He has a long list of lies  that is why!  He has been a deceiver since he was a little boy.  His whole life is a lie.  He probably has no clue what..no I mean he really has no clue....he thinks because he is a politician he is entitled to lie........ENTITLEMENT is at the root of all the crooks in Washington...the elitist mindset thinks they are more intelligent and that the sheep need not know the real truth.  ...just like lawyers do to clients.........DR.s do to patients.  Our whole culture encourages deceit.  Our media supported his non transparency to get elected.  Telling lies got him elected for God's sake.  He did not play by rules all other candidates played by.   He denied that he was friends with the killler and anti american hater Bill Ayers!!!!  He denied that he attended Rev Wrights church for twenty years and that he ever heard the rhetoric that was published.  He denied that he" knew" the Governor of Illinois!   He denied that the surge was successful in Iraq!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Rev Wright said," Obama is a politician". ( meaning they have to stretch the truth) and he has already shown he is just like the other crooks.

This young generation does not even know what "drink the kool aid " means.
