Pranab Mukherjee asks LTTE to end Barbaric Act in Sri Lanka   External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee expressed grave concern over the Sri Lanka crisis and asked LTTE to stop its "barbaric" act in Sri Lanka. LTTE is accused of holding the innocent Tamil civilians as hostage to escape from the Army attack. Mukherjee made this statement after attending a high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Wednesday night. Defence Minister A K Antony, National Security Adviser M K Narayanan and Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon were also present at the meeting.

The meeting was called by the Prime Minister to review the crisis situation in Sri Lanka after Tamil Nadu CM M Karunanidhi declared a Tamil Nadu bandh on Thursday and asked the Centre to take immediate action on this issue.

"We are very unhappy at the continued killing of innocent Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka. These killings must stop", said Pranab Mukherjee. He also added that it is the responsibility of the Sri Lankan government to protect its own people. He lashed out at the LTTE for using innocent civilians as a shield to save themselves.

This is a strong statement made by Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. It is evident that polificians such as Karunanidhi and Jayalalitha from Tamilnadu back the LTTE only for political reasons, in order to achieve their political agendas.

The Sri Lanka Government protects is own people. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to save and protect the civilians who are in the clutches of the failing Terrorist leader Prabhakaran. If he had any feeling for the Tamil people whom he vouched to protect, he would have surely let them go, instead of using them as a human shield.

The brave days of Prabhakaran are far gone. The vehicle of Eelam which he started building is now running out of gas.  It will stop soon.
