It's with sadness that I learned about your illness. Having been seriously sick for more than 11 years, I share with you my prayers and love. I wish you recovery completely. Diagnosis of colon cancer on former President Cory Aquino. Despite stepping down from office in 1992, Tita Cory has continued exerting influence on the country's affairs, lending her name and face, as well as her reputation, to causes that often called the powerful to account. Since 2005, she has been calling for the resignation of President Macapagal-Arroyo, and lately she took up the cudgels for whistle-blower Jun Lozada and the story he had to tell about the corruption attending the NBN-ZTE deal. A woman of prayer, Ms Aquino's illness prompted Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales to pledge the prayers of all Filipino priests for her recovery. Tita Cory was the symbol of People Power and an inspiration to others around the world struggling against tyranny. The widow of popular opposition leader Benigno Aquino, who was murdered at Manila airport in 1983 on his return from exile in Boston, she showed a quiet courage that moved millions. To Filipinos, who are devoutly Catholic, she was both Mater Dolorosa and Joan of Arc. Thank you for everything you've done for our people and our country. You and your husband truly cared about us, and brought us hope. You are one of the greatest Filipinos. The Filipino people love you, tita Cory!

Cory Aquino, our former president, is in critical condition at the Makati Medical Center two weeks or so after undergoing surgery for colon cancer.

...As Tita Cory now lies on her deathbed, let our prayers storm the gates of Heaven to ease her pain and lighten her final journey.

Many are praying.

I cried because I felt for the icon of my political awakening — you were the mother who, by virtue of what you did for our country, taught me to understand what democracy was all about.... And here’s a son saying a prayer for you. And like the million others who do the same, I have this fervent belief that God acts fast on our pleas.

....Don’t say a prayer for me now, save it ‘til the morning after.

All my prayers for Tita Cory.

Whenever I think of her or see the news broadcast from Philippines about her,

I can't help but cry.

God bless Tita Cory.
