Preacher: Matthew 6:6 tells gays to return to closet

An African American preacher uses Matthew chapter 6 verse 6 to depict the closet as a place of change and healing for gays.
The most problematic area for this preacher is the fact that his message is one of faith as opposed to vast areas of sociology, psychology, genetics, politics, and historical progression: It is not likely to resonate with the well-read and the learned. He may be weavng his own peculiar cultural bias into his interpretation of the passage of the New Testament. This story may have a strong link to this Now Public story.
The reason I felt this post-worthy is because this Pastor has quite a youth/college following among African Americans.
Pastor Terrence Johnson of Houston’s Higher Dimensions Churchaddresses homosexuality with a strong emphasis on change. In the bible, the closet is a symbol of a place of gaining spiritual power through humility and prayer.“But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.” – Matthew 6:6
But as is typical with the homosexual movement, biblical symbolism is hijacked and perverted. To them, the closet has a place of shame and bondage. Pastor J, as he is called, puts things in biblical perspective.
“Do you know someone who is struggling with the spirit of homosexuality? Are you in contact with individuals who feel as if they are homosexual by birth and have no choice but to live this lifestyle?
Id like to submit to you today the truth concerning these feelings that have caused much confusion in our society today.
Homosexuality is a demonic spirit. It is designed to attack one’s mind and body. Homosexuality is an arrogant spirit that convinces its victims that their condition is ok and that they should be comfortable in it.
However, Id like to bring your attention to the true agenda of this spirit. The enemy has set us up to allow us to believe that its ok for a woman to be romantically involved with a woman and for a man to be romantically involved with another man. This spirit is establishing itself in order to place an attack on the institution of the family and of a God ordained marriage between a man and a woman. The agenda is to stop the order of the Lord, the reproduction of mankind. Two individuals of the same sex can not procreate.
As Christians, it is time for us to stand together in opposition of this possession. We should not attack the individuals it affects but the possession that the enemy has on the mind. We must open our mouths and speak the truth against this spirit and not words that tear our brothers and sisters down. Speak Gods word on this situation.
The truth is God doesnt approve of homosexuality. Individuals may have been born with some biological deficiencies but the truth is we were all born in sin and shaped in iniquity.
We must be reborn. So allow the Lord to regenerate. Speak the truth in Love. You have to speak the truth.
God wants us to get to the point where we oppose the sin but love the sinner. That’s Agape love. It is to love people unconditionally. True love will confront them and give them a plan on how to get out.”

Why?
He created his dream. He "made" a church cos God told him to (wink, wink!). He bought 6 + acres and built it. A year later he paid off the mortgage from donations. He has schools, Christian business consulting operations etc. He is the American dream - rich and famous from the backs of the people and of course controversial (book tour, Larry King etc coming soon)
He's black too. There was outrage when Obama dared speak to schoolchildren. Preacher Matthew "educates" them. There is outrage when Obama discusses tax. The sheeple throw money at Preacher Matthew. Obama is crucified for not yet ending don't ask. Preacher Matthew says homosexuals are demonic

Kova, I know you saw the story on the gay teen that was killed in Puerto Rico. The details are too horrible to go into but, I left a comment under it so, take a look at it when you get a chance.

I wonder what God would say to this preacher, but then again God gave humanity freedom and promised no to interfere ever again. There for one could argue that all prophets coming after Noah are not real prophets and could be charlatans...
But that would be another can of worms all to gather to deal with.

nanute: The tea bag people don't have a thing on the "progressives". You Saul Alinsky disciples have it all figured out. The TBs are just reacting, in a gut manner to things that they believe are contrary to common American sense. You notice (I'm sure) that I'm not a tea bag. No! I never attended those kind of parties before! Yes indeedy! It's people like me that need to be monitored! HA! We are the truly dangerous ones that do the dirty work under the radar and we're quite effective in our roles as agent provocateurs (I spelled that word without even having to look it up! Imagine that!).
Here's my honest and forthright opinion and projection: If Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! BHO keeps doing what he's doing, he's going to piss off alot more Americans than he has already pissed off. You need to reign your man (I would have said "boy" instead of "man" but that would be "racist") in. BHO needs to be schooled in American values fast and hard and once he's schooled, he needs to make amends to the American people vis-a-vis a heart-felt and convincing demonstration that he's an American first and not some whimped-out transcontinentalist.puppet that runs around the world, hat-in-hand, and kisses every stinking ass that he comes in contact with.
If BHO doesn't get real and straighten out soon, the American political pendulum is going to swing so far to the right that the "swing" will make Ronald Reagan look like a bleeding-heart liberal . . . .

You crack me up. I think Beck is into Alinsky. I've not read any of his (Alinsky's) work, but I'm going to. If I'm going to be accused of being a disciple, I think I should know what I'm talking about, before I comment. I'll get back to you.
In the mean time, keep up the pressure on Obama. He's not listening to his oh so liberal, progressive, "provincial" elitist base, and he has already pissed them off. The tea bag, or politically correct term, tea party types were pissed off the moment Obama was elected. He never had them, and never will. I see that some folks down in Texas are holding a secession rally in the near future. I suspect that it will spread all over the south in short order. Look for N. Carolina to be next. nanute: I said tea bag--not tea party types! Did you mean South Carolina BTW? S.C. has secession experience. HA! Is BHO really pissing off the faithful? Why would that be? Beck is not into Alinsky. Obama is into Alinsky. In fact a number of Obama's Chicago mentors attended Alinsky's school and were taught by the great master himself. IMHO, if Obama doesn't start moving towards the center, there's going to be a significant move, by voters, to the right come 2010 and 2012. Similar to what occurred in New York City consequent to the Dinkin's Administration.
