Unconfirmed reports from the brother of the 28-year-old Iraqi journalist who threw a pair of shoes at US President George W. Bush during a press conference that the journalist was beaten while in police custody.

Muntadar al-Zaida, who made headlines when he threw a pair of Iraqi-made shoes at Bush while yelling that he was a dog, has been in Iraqi custody since the event and has suffered a broken hand, ribs and internal bleeding.

Muntadar al-Zaidi has allegedly suffered a broken arm, broken ribs and internal bleeding, his older brother, Dargham, told the BBC.

Mr Zaidi threw his shoes at Mr Bush at a news conference, calling him "a dog".

Thanks for bring this story.  While I am opposed to the actions of this journalist, I do think that this man should have been taken into custody and charged not beaten.  This is a potential black eye for the Government of Iraq.
