Whilst President Obama has been passing out the laurels leafs of peace and adding his advisers solutions on ways to stop the world tumbling further into recession. I have notice that the bad news has receded. Does this mean President Obama has stopped the US intelligence community dabbling and a stop has been put on culvert projects?

Obama seemingly is succeeding in regaining US world respect by placing a band aid here and there and where one is needed. However much of the infection remains in Iraq and Afghanistan but even there it’s seemingly receding.

North Korea and Iran of course need more than a band aid and much more political skill needs to be applied but at a guess somehow president Obama may achieve what most of us feel to be impossible.

Over the last few months my respect has been raised concerning this new president of USA. Prior to him being elected in to power I did not like him much but thought that anyone could do a better job that Ex-president Bush.

Now USA is looking at Israel and the struggle, this will always be a thorn in the side concerning world peace. Many a world leader has thought they could help to solve the world biggest problem but have failed due to the hatred facture and the heavy handedness of Israelis retaliation against attack on the State of Israel. The murder and carnage is never ending it’s a political religious based night mare. President Obama would be seen as a miracle maker if he could supply an answer and solution to finally secure the peace in the middle east.

Now that the hype is finally dissipating concerning the global meltdown, President Obama has much more time to task his advisers on other world issues. I wish him the best luck and I really hope that he is the man I am beginning to think he is. Honest and caring and someone that is going all out to achieve a more peaceful world. The only guy that’s sat in that seat of ultimate power that there not just for the people of USA but the citizens of the world and not a puppet of the capitalistic elite.

Obama your looking great so far, seemingly look to be heading to be listed as USA best president and the man who put trust back in America.

I am an outsider looking in at American politics giving a view as a citizen of the world that lives on a small tropical Island and views the worlds global picture from an armchair or a seat behind a computer screen.

Babel-Fish thank you for this point of view.  I have often thought that too much credence is given to how a President performs in his first 100 days.  Most of us, unless we're a genius require that long to feel our way around a new job, let alone that of President of the United States.

While there is no doubt that President Obama is one of the great orators of our time, it will take years to see how his policies affect both the world and US economy.  My feeling sometimes is that he is moving too fast to try to implement all of his campaign promises.  He was elected with high expectations, a task that could overwhelm anyone.

He is finding resistance from the Democrat Congress on the closure of GITMO, the enhanced interrogation memos have created a heated discussion affecting politicians on both sides of the isle, most notably Nancy Pelosi.  Despite bailouts, GM and Chrysler aren.t out of the woods yet.  His latest reversal on the release of pictures depicting  abuse of prisoners by American troops has landed him in hot water with the far left and the ACLU.  North Korea and Iran continue to thumb their noses at America.  The list goes on and on.

While his approach to international issues may be refreshing, it remains to be seen what the overall effect will be.

In summary, the Obama Administration has attempted to change America's approach in how it deals with the world, however the real effects of these changes remain something to be evaluated in the future.

Bob Obama is a bandaid.....he has literally done nothing so far. He has not kept his campaign promises, and the he has slapped more than 787 billion more of debt onto working or should I say non-working Americans. He increased the Military Budget of what Bush had.. I think the slogan anyone is better than Bush....surely does not include Obama..who carries the Bush mantle around the world.. ..He is doing a great snow job, smooze to the American people..... Oprah Winfrey would do more than this guy.

Not true he is on track so far and his next call is Iran. I really like what he is doing at present and whats been done is noticeable.  The bush administration is the cause of the need for the 787 billion, I feel now that Gordon Browns plan was the correct way to go.

I think you are not seeing this guy as you should see him he is for peace and thats also the platform you and I stand on.

OK Bob explain his lack of fulfilling campaign promises? Troops still in Iraq, expanding Military spending into Afghanistan, with plans to attack Pakistan.. Also his flip flop on Guantanemo and the torture memos.  He is only ramping up the economy to put more money in the Military coffers. Think people really believe his sincerity when he carries on the same Bush policies? Heck no....he is pals with Robert Gates...

I like Gordon Browns way too. At least the Brits apologize and remedy their financial injustices. I have great respect for Britain for that. As far as a America...they are major crooks.

Tonight I see Robert Gates is trying to redeem himself by supporting the closure of Guantanemo.. Now Gates has done some pretty sneaky stuff like when he advised Ronald Reagan to sell Weapons to Iran so they could use profits to sell weapons to the Contra's.. He knew very well that would betray Saddam....after all the weapons he sold him to fight Iran... This was one of the main reasons Saddam tried to reclaim Kuwait prompting the first War with Iraq...Operation Desert Storm....

Maybe Gates is seeing the light.. Now if he would support indictment of Cheney and Bush...for their war crimes.....that killed over a million innocent peoples. lives...I think he has a chance for redemption....and being a true American who admits mistakes..and goes after to correct them...

I say there is a glimmer of hope for Robert Gates.....

Also President Obama has come out in support of tightening defense procurement... Not that it has anything to do with the current 5% increase to the military budget over Bush's watch... But at least he is acknowledging that the Military can be over bloated...as John McCain mentioned his abilities in stopping wasteful military spending during the debates.

This is a good gesture Obama...but far from the real promises he made during his campaign. All I know is a guy who makes promises to get a job, and does not do them when the people elect him to do them.....he merely brings more discreditably to not only the USA but to Democracy itself..  Another twinkle of hope...
