A dark cloud looms....
According to Peter Worthington of the Toronto Sun despite predicting revived fortunes in Iraq, Republican Presidential candidate John McCain has not benefited from the accuracy of his predictions.
I’m not sure how accurate the US casualty figures coming out of Iraq have been over the past two months (84% in May) (74% in June) and given that CNSNews reports that journalist embedded in Iraq with US forces has declined by 74% in the past nine months, I’m absolutely certain that there is some election suppression going here. Honestly with a high stakes presidential election rapidly approaching it’s boiling point we the public would be fools to believe that politics is the only news in town, however a quick scan of one of my favourite daily papers revealed almost one third of the articles published related in one way or another to Obama Vs McCain, so I can certainly see how one would think that things are really "getting better" in Iraq.
Obama Says Pressure on Iran Is Building
Obama’s Health Plan, Dissected
Obama, in Berlin, Calls for Renewal of Ties With Allies
Hey, Obama: There’s Bratwurst in Ohio, Too (but No Cheering Masses)
McCain’s ruthless Republicans will do anything to win (Nixon, Regan and W all come to mind) and just like any major political party they have people in the media, likely those reports still on the ground, so as we rocket towards election day don’t be surprised to see current trends in Iraq quickly perform an about face as John McCain and the republican party continue to lose ground to a runaway train known as Obama.
When the dark clouds come rollin in they will be filled with casualty rains and insurgent thunder.
