Prime Minister Putin praises Obama on Missile Defence Decision
Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has praised President Obama's decision to scrap plans for missile defence as a right and brave move.
Putin is also urging that the United States to scrap trade barriers that exist, stifling trade with Russia.
Putin made these comments in a speech in Sochi, Russia.
It appears that President Obama's actions may help to normalize relations with the former Cold War adversary.
SOCHI, Russia -- Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has praised President Barack Obama's decision to scrap plans for a missile defense system in Europe and urged the U.S. to cancel restrictions on trade with Russia.
Putin hailed Obama's move as "right and brave" and said that it has raised hope the U.S. administration also will move to cancel all existing restrictions on trade with Russia.

This is just what Russia wanted for years.
I agree with Obama.
It is not needed.

Funny how Putin is Headline News as Prime Minister , when before when he was President he was also headline news. Makes one wonder how effective President Medvedev is when a Prime Minister seemingly is pulling the strings.
Normally the Russian Prime Minister handled internal and border issues concerning Russia, the President on the other hand handles global issues. Something is rotten in Denmark or should I say Moscow!

I tend to disagree somewhat. Although Putin does wield a lot of power, I think we are underestimating Medvedev. He is quite a capable leader, and well liked. Is it so hard to comprehend working as a team? Well maybe in Canada it is....
I think at the heart of it, both men want Russia to prosper, and are working toward achieving this goal amidst a difficult situation. They want a proud Russia.
Then again... who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
