Pro-LTTE parties routed in Tamil Nadu
  16 May 2009 06:13:56 PM IST

CHENNAI: In a dramatic coincidence, Tamil Nadu's political parties sympathetic to the Tamil Tigers were routed in the Lok Sabha elections Saturday as the Sri Lankan military dealt a crippling blow to the rebels, taking control of their last coastal belt. As the Sri Lankan army announced "the total liberation of the island's coastline from three decades of terror", vote count in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu showed that all seven candidates of the PMK and three of the four MDMK candidates had lost. The losers included MDMK's passionately pro-Tiger chief Vaiko, who in 1989 made a dramatic secret trip to Sri Lanka's north to meet Tamil Tiger chief Velupillai Prabhakaran.

J.Jayalaitha who took a pro LTTE stand with the thought that it might carry her party to victory failed miserably failed miserably by securing only 9 out of the 39 seats. Jayalalitha threatened to send the Indian Army to Sri Lanka to help the LTTE recover if her party won. She failed.

Vaiko, the most vociferous LTTE supporter of the lot once stated,"rivers of blood would flow in Tamil Nadu if LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran got injured in Sri Lanka" lost by over 50,000 votes.

The saving grace for politicians supporting the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was the victory of Thol Thirumavalavan, leader of VCK, the small party that fielded two candidates in alliance with the ruling DMK.

The political parties which backed the LTTE and Prabhakaran lost. So has the LTTE which was handed a resounding beating at the hands of the Sri Lankan Forces. Perhaps, the LTTE was going through a bad karma and dragged its supporters along with it down the drain.

"The verdict is a vote against the LTTE, a vote for India's Sri Lanka policy," said K. Elangovan, a Chennai-based lawyer.

Photo No. 04 shows Vaiko in combat fatigues, totally mesmerized by the genocidal maniac, Prabhakaran. No wonder Gen. Fonseka, very aptly, called Vaiko a JOKER. Much furore was created in Tamil Nadu over the statement, undoubtedly orchestrated by the Joker himself.

Heard of a 'Wolf in Lamb's clothing'? This is an 'ASS in Combat clothing'. He is welcome to don these for the rest of his miserable life, as it seems to have helped him to dig his own grave.

I dont think the pro LTTE folks lost the election just becaz they supported the cause the LTTE. If the death of Prabhakaran flashed before the election, the election results in Tamilnadu would have complete been different.
