Project Implicit: Test to determine if you're a Racist

Is it possible that you're a racist and you don't even realize it?  That's one of the questions that's being asked by Project Implicit, a website that tries to discover our various hidden gender and racial biases hidden in our unconscious mind.

The exam is setup so that the person taking the test must give reflex responses to different kinds of visual stimuli, such as a picture of a group of women, Christians, or Americans.  They have to assign the first attribute that comes to mind, whether it be positive like smart, or negative like lazy.  The idea is to catch people's initial reaction, not something they would say after some time to think about it.

"It is very flexible as a tool, but it is restricted to measure simple associations," said Nosek.  "The huge majority of people say this is very intriguing and it doesn't mean they agree with it," he added.

"But if a person takes a test privately and has scientific evidence that they are a whole lot slower at associating positive attributes to a group, it might make a difference."

Sorry, that is a loaded, stooopid test. Conditions you to answer the racial part in only one way. Sorry, stooopid.

I think most people fall back on reflex much more often than we care to admit. Its easy to be negativly conditioned to a particular group however much we try to avoid it. What we do after the reflex time is far more important
