Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife
By Gene Warner News Staff ReporterOrchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband — an influential member of the local Muslim community — reported her death to police Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.
"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.
Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.
Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

That is rather extreme I would say.

I agree when one says one thing and does completely the opposite!
Thanks Paschen for the comments

I second that and added the Mission Statement pic that Bridges TV promotes.

Rene,
Domestic violence doesn’t have boundaries and it is not pertain to only one religion or ethnic group. Unfortunately it is an endemic problem throughout the world. For your information, every second a woman in the United State falls victims of Domestic violence.

The woman had asked for divorce. In the muslim world a woman cant act against the will of her husband. Quran teaches that to women. And Quran teaches that to men. So Muzzammill did what he had to do. He defended his honor. His religion allows and recommends such behaviors. They call it "honor killing".
Needless to say that it also sends a very strong message to other muslim women. Something like "you obey or die". A religion of peace they say.
That happened in USA quite close to our borders. Canada being a multicultural country and being respecful of all cultures, be ready to witness more and more of these honor killings inside our borders. Young girl Aqsa Pervez strangled by her father (Pakistani muslim) in Toronto last year was the first alert.
Let's hope that Harper et al will take note and call the end of multiculturalism in Canada. And that our immigration process will be re-engineered so that the immigrants coming in will fit the overall picture and agree to abide by our laws. Whatever their religion !

Damn straight, I agree Andre. Canadian laws need to trump all other laws when living in Canada, just as they would have to be obeyed in other countries and their laws. Many are under the misconception that their passport trumps the laws of the country they are visiting, certainly the media is full of westerners in foreign prisons who found out it just ain't that way!

Andre,
Unfortunately, these are the misconceptions that the couple’s T.V. station was trying hard to undo. Please don’t blame it on the Qura’n or religion, blame it on domestic violence and the husband’s inability to seek professional and religious help regarding his marriage.
Divorce is perfectly allowed in Islam and a Muslim woman is fully capable of divorcing her husband.

Thanks for this story, Barry! It seems Muzzammil Hassan is somewhat of an international mystery man according to a post in American Thinker titled, "Saudi money behind wife-beheader's TV operation?" Very interesting!

Awesome legwork, Rhonda. There seems to be a much deeper side to this murderer, and unfortunately his wife had to be sacrificed, perhaps because she possessed information detrimental to his operations. I think I may have said too much for my own good already.

Thank you, Fred! Yes, it appears there could be a much deeper side to this murderer. However, whether or not the reasons Mrs. Hassan was murdered because she "knew too much" remains to be seen; right now it appears to be a case of extreme domestic violence. Very unfortunate, to say the least.

The Quran does not say that violence is allowed. There is a huge difference between cultural and religious views. Just because a person grew up in Pakistan or in any muslim country doesn't mean that it is okay for him/her to do that. The Quran says that everyone is equal. Many people take it out of context, or interpret it wrong and do such gruesome things. Don't forget that christains have done such things as killing, raping and torturing humans as well. One case like this comes up and people go crazy saying that muslims are bad people, and even though I am a christian these things are not limited to religion. Any person from any religion can do something like this, and believe me there have been many cases over a spouse killing the other because of a divorce here in the United States as well as other countries.

Thanks Mary Ann. I wonder what Qur'an you are reading?
Qur’an 9:29 “Fight those who do not profess the true faith (Islam) till they pay the jizya (poll tax) with the hand of humility.”
Qur’an 22:19 “ Garments of fire have been prepared for the unbelievers. Scalding water shall be poured upon their heads, melting their skins and that which is in their bellies. They shall be lashed with rods of iron. Whenever, in their anguish, they try to escape from Hell, back they shall be dragged, and will be told: ‘Taste the torment of the Conflagration!’”
Qur’an 8:12 “I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers.”
Qur’an 9:73 “Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fate.”

I too have read the Qur'an, perhaps you could include the phrase you quote in that everyone is equal?
