California Election Results: Proposition 19 Was Not Passed in 2010 Midterm Elections
Prop 19 (the Regulate, Control and Tax Cannabis Act of 2010) failed to pass, with 54% of participating California residents voting against the marijuana legalization bill.
"This is the first time major elected officials and labor unions and civil rights organizations have endorsed a marijuana legalization measure. The debate is less about whether to legalize marijuana and increasingly about how to legalize marijuana," Nadelmann said.
However, the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana have been actively discussed for many years.
Proposition 23 Defeated
However, voters rejected Proposition 23, which would have suspended California's climate change legislation until unemployment fell to unrealistically low levels.

Its a shame it wasn't passed even though i live in Britian, why should people who want it to be illegal just because they dont like it have a say. The reason people do this is often through fear as they have been "brain washed" by the media and the overdramatisation of its potential health problems. Then again some people think getting high is immoral, which i think itself is immoral. No ones gonna force you to take weed, people do have free will you know.

i f ing hate california. there are more potheads in california than anywhere i have ever been and they vote this down! i now consider them to be twins of the bible belt ignoramuses here in alabama, both are to selfish to do what is best for the whole of society. they voted this down cause people would be able to grow their own and not half to pay someone else. granted alot did vote for it and it would have passed if all smokers had. they didnt cause alot of them make money off their clinics and galvinized their customers against it. way to go to fuck it up for everyone else california, just like the bible belt.
