Prosecutors drop bid for notebook from accused Colorado shooter

Reuters reports prosecutors on Thursday dropped their legal fight to gain access to a notebook accused Colorado theater gunman James Holmes sent to a university psychiatrist, saying legal wrangling over it would delay the case for months.

"There's a high degree of likelihood that whatever privilege exists in the notebook will end up being waived by the defendant" should Holmes' lawyers pursue an insanity defense, prosecutor Rich Orman said during hearing on the issue.
