NP Rank:
From Prostitute to Pop Star--Ashley Dupree
Ashley Dupree, the 22-year old prostitute who "allegedly" offered her wares to ex New York Governor, Eliot Spitzer, has been officially promoted. It was reported that Dupree has offers coming out of the cockroach woodwork to exploit her "talents". Evidently, Ms. Dupree's "real ambition" is to be a singer. Now in the wake of Eliot Spitzer's career and personal nightmare, Ms. Thang is really going to cash out big.
WOW! I bet her parents are proud. Her father must be in the midst of suicide having raised a pimped-up Lolita.
I'm no "square", but honestly...what kind of message is this sending to our younger generation? Be a hooker, meet the right people, get caught in a public sex scandal, become rich and famous and make a reality show!
Is this really where our society is headed? A huge pit of dysfunctional bile, scum and bottom-feeders? I suppose that is a silly question, because we are already there. I feel sorry for Mrs. Spitzer and her daughters. It's a sick, sick world, and a lot of people profiting off it.
Here's one of my favorite movie quotes to express my opinion on this morality challenged society:
"I weep for the future..." -- Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

Wow, What is the world coming to really. That`s so gross.
But wait, what`s that over there? Oh! Just a war of choice that has caused a million-fold more damage to the whole world, than a young lady caught up in a scandal.
Until one can walk a mile with her feet, one should not be judging.
And using disparaging language (Ms. Thang)makes one look less like a journalist & more like a gossip columnist.
Why would one even suggest that suicide would be an outcome for having raised a "pimped up Lolita".
Either you know these people personally or you have serious issues that should be addressed in another venue.
This is only an editorial opinion.
The news page is over there, a little to the left.

While you sound angry and judgmental in your entry here, I sense a
large wave of sadness underneath. And in ways I agree. But while your
anger seems to be about the sexual/moral decline of America mine is
about the victory of a short-sighted market dedication that has swept
our nation.
The young woman is doing what everyone else in this country is
doing when really bad press comes their way - taking the P. T. Barnum
approach that no press is bad press. She hopes to parlay a blown (no
pun meant here) prostitution gig into a successful musical gig. And
that is sad. (And from what little I have read online, it is also
ill-fated – apparently she has no musical talent.)
It seems to me that ever since the Reagan Revolution of the 80's -
where we learned that greed is good and the essential philosophy of
"Screw you! I got mine! It's every crumb for himself!"
(quote courtesy William S. Burroughs) - nothing is sacred and
everything is for sale as long as it furthers one's ultimate goal of
a $400,000 home in the burbs.
As for her father wanting to whack himself, I am sure that if that
is the case he joins an untold number of men who have plunked down
their first $4.99 a month to join their fave porn site only to have
their first anxious mouse click land them on a picture of their
little darling daughter being "done" by the garbageman.
Alas, but the market is not just necessarily cruel but incredibly
short-sighted as well.
