2 Members of Pussy Riot Escape from Russia

Two members of Moscow punk collective Pussy Riot have fled Russia in the wake of a show trial that saw three women convicted of "hooliganism".

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alekhina, and Yekaterina Samutsevich are appealing their convictions, which carry a two-year prison sentence. Since the Pussy riot trial itself was basically a sham, there's not much hope that the appeal will succeed.

According to Nadezhda Tolokonnikova's husband Pyotr Verzilov, two band members who took part in the "punk vigil" have left Russia, apparently to a country with no extradition treaty with the Kremlin. However, Pyotr Verzilov would not confirm whether or not these were the same two Pussy Riot members that have been sought by police, after the initial trio's conviction.
