Put out the fire and create some jobs
A call for the obvious
“Enact industrial and trade policies that will create jobs, enforce laws protecting worker and civil rights, and create fair educational, economic and health policies”
I have been pleading for these things consistently for a long time. When firebrands like Jesse Jackson and Bob King call for it, well that is a good thing.
But, they represent people who are smarter than to wait for someone else to solve the problem. What they are calling for is innovation and entrepreneurism that is as far away from the public trough as one can get. All government needs to do is make capital available for manufacturing businesses and for new product engineers who can restore American made consumer products that are superior in quality and made by workers who are competitive in the global labor market. That is nontrivial.
Jackson and King need to grab Obama by the collar and tell him to listen to the business community, not the one that is tied to Washington’s hip, but the true entrepreneurs.
“UAW's King, Jesse Jackson Urge U.S. Job Creation
Manufacturing.Net - July 12, 2010DETROIT (AP) -- United Auto Workers president Bob King and the Rev. Jesse Jackson are kicking off a new campaign in Detroit that's focusing on job creation, manufacturing, workers' rights and peace.
King and Jackson planned to announce details Monday of the Jobs, Justice and Peace initiative and take part in a march next month in Detroit.
The effort is expected to call on national leaders to enact industrial and trade policies that will create jobs, enforce laws protecting worker and civil rights, and create fair educational, economic and health policies.
The campaign also calls for a moratorium on home foreclosure practices.
The Aug. 28 march will commemorate one led in Detroit in 1963 by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.”

If it isn't done by now, he's the wrong guy for the job.
