Racial Killing in Patchogue, New York

In the city of Patchogue, New York as reported by the US Latin Television Station Univision; a group of White Anglo-Saxon Adolescents have stabbed an Ecuadorean National in the Chest. The stabbing victim was Marcelo Lucero who was 37 years of age. The reason for the stabbing was for being a "Latin".

One of the people involved in the stabbing death of Lucero was Jeffrey Conroy who is 17 years of age. Conroy was detained without bail even though he states that he is innocent.  Luis Valenzuela and Norman Eng who are directors of Pro Immigrant Coalitions have called for a tribute to Lucero in Patchogue, New York.

Mr. Valenzuela has blamed the anti immigration hysteria in Suffolk County for the death of Lucero. He stated that such laws give people the right to attack and kill immigrants. It remains to be seen how this will play out.

It is believed that the current polarization that exists in the United States of America has contributed to the increasing violence against immigrants and those who "do not look Americans" in the eyes of those who refuse to acknowledge the diversity that exists in America.
