Radio Blagojevich: Ex-Governor's New Gig
Rod Blagojevich, the disgraced former governor of Illinois, will take to the airwaves on Wednesday morning when he guest-hosts a show on WLS 890 AM.
Blagojevich will be filling in on the Don Wade and Roma Morning Show between 7am and 9am.
WLS-AM program director Bob Shomper says Blagojevich will be on the air on the Chicago station Wednesday morning, taking calls from listeners, telling stories and talking with guests.
Shomper says it's a one-time deal in a slot normally filled by hosts who are off this week.
In January, WLS offered Blagojevich his own weekend radio show if he agreed to resign as governor.
Blagojevich declined that offer.
It's not clear yet who he will be interviewing:
"He's excited about hosting," says Glenn Selig, Blagojevich's publicist. "He's ready for the challenge and promises to be a fair interviewer. He'll also be tough when he needs to be. He's a talented communicator."
The governor was removed from office by Illinois legislators. He faces federal corruption charges in which he is accused of attempting to sell the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama - charges which he denies.
Blagojevich could be indicted early in April.
The former governor has now add another member to his legal team - veteran criminal defence lawyer Terence Gillespie.
Gillespie's entrance in the case comes after his partner, Edward Genson, dropped the former governor earlier this year in a dispute with other members of the legal team. Genson had objected to Blagojevich's media blitz in which he went to New York to appear on national network and cable programs to declare his innocence to the charges, including his alleged attempt to sell the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President Barack Obama.
