This picture was taken some time ago in Crewe [ my back towards Asda ]. How strange I thought since Crewe Works used to Service and Build Locomotives [ I being a former designer there ]. How strange too that while travelling along Middlewich Road one evening a branch hit the roof of my car - from the darkness I then realised why. A locomotive on a low loader was ahead of me chopping off branches on its journey to Crewe Railway Works. I also can recall the Crewe Carnival being disbanded in the year when Merrills Bridge [ Adjacent to the Gates of Rolls Royce ] was out of action as a consequence of strengthening work being carried out at a cost of £1.4 million. It just happens that MERRILLS BRIDGE is a vital ENTRY POINT over which WEIGHT of access be important to the former Crewe Works.
WHY has rolling stock become a road user?. Is this typical today?.
