A massive bio-dome is being planned at a British Zoo. The £90 million project will be called "Heart of Africa" and will be the only domed ecosystem in the UK.

The bio-dome will be an African rainforest-themed sanctuary for a band of gorillas, a large troop of chimpanzees, okapi (rare giraffe-like creatures), and a wide variety of tropical birds, amphibians, reptiles, fishes and invertebrates, moving freely among the vegetation.

The zoo says it will seek planning permission for the dome and a 90-room hotel later this year.

Prof Gordon McGregor Reid, director general of the zoo, said: "Natural Vision will offer a fun, family-friendly, adventurous, yet educational window on the world of conservation.

Well, it may one day be the last remaining rain forest.

I'd go!  I bet they'll have african grey parrots too!  How exciting.  A well maintained zoo is an excellent way to preserve species.  If properly built and cared for, the animals are at least as content as their wild counterparts, often more so.
