Noted Indian film director Ramgopal Varma whose Rakta Charitra is based on the story of the slain faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, said he was shocked. In a post in Twitter, he said Suri was the inspiration for him to produce ‘Rakta Charitra’. He said during his research for the film he said he was in touch with Suri and was very much disturbed on hearing about his death.

            Varma has visited the jail in Anantapur, scene of the faction war to meet Suri.

            Vivek Oberai has acted as Paritala Ravindra and Surya donned the role of Suri. Satrughan Sinha acted as the actor-turned-politician late N T Rama Rao.
