The Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for nine leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) including treason / insurrection charges (which carries the death penalty).
The court made the decision at the request of police.
4 October 2008.
Chamlong Srimuang (above) was arrested and held in a remand prison, he refused bail.
9 October 2008.
Thailand's Court of Appeals threw out arrest warrants for treason against nine leaders of the PAD including Chamlong.
The court said the treason charges against the leaders, two of whom were in police custody, were groundless.
