RCMP should end use of Tasers: Zaccardelli
While much of the former RCMP commisioner's interview with CBC apparently focused on the denying of information to CSIS and the RCMP during the Arar investigation, Guiliano Zaccardelli also said it was time to stop using tasers.
Zaccardelli said that even if the tasers are used properly and don't cause permanent damage, their use should end as it promotes a negative image of the police.
This comes on the heels of a report which stated that three out of four people tasered in Canada were unarmed when they were shocked.
Zaccardelli said he supported the use of stun guns, commonly known as Tasers, during his seven-year reign as commissioner because they were simply another tool for policing. But given the recent controversy surrounding police force's use of Tasers in Canada, the former commissioner has reconsidered his position, he said.
"And you know, after all that I've thought about it, I've come more and more to the conclusion that I'm not sure that having Tasers is worth the negative impact that it has on police forces in terms of public perception," he told the CBC's Peter Mansbridge.

The second paragraph is key: image is really important to any police department. Without the community on its side, the department faces a much bigger challenge.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/ban-tasers-from-policeI agree with Mr. Zaccardelli. Tasers should be banned everywhere.
He is correct about public sentiment running high against Tasers. Some folks even have a petition:
