A new study shows that at least 38 organized crime groups have members or associates working at Pearson International Airport, says the RCMP.

While studying patterns in investigations over the last few years, during which time 298 airport employees were arrested for involvement in smuggling, the RCMP have discovered links to major airports all across Canada.

There are 38 organized crime groups with members or associates working at Pearson International Airport, according to an RCMP study of smuggling at Canadian airports.

The groups smuggle humans, cocaine, marijuana and a stimulant called "khat" that predates the use of coffee, but is relatively new on Canadian streets, according to the RCMP study, called Project Spawn.

I just heard about this! It demonstrates that even with all the security in the world, airports just need one weak point for groups to exploit.
