Whoever Americans choose, whether Obama or McCain, both moderates, rest assured World Dictators and Despots will test the new US President "Hot Button".

These Despots I am sure will prefer to test a "Young Pup" like Obama to see how far they can get.

But testing an "Old Junkyard Dog" like McCain will certainly be a test Dictator's may think twice about  entering.

Since the start of the U.S. primaries, seemingly eons ago, Barack Obama has consistently stressed the need for "change," and his hopes of unifying the country.

Emphasizing "change" was important to Obama because it was all he had in the early days. It caught on and resonated among Americans who've had a bellyful of Clintons and Bushes in the White House for 20 years. They want someone different.

Obama is certainly "different" -- except for his ideas, policies and issues which are virtually indistinguishable from those held by Hillary Clinton and the conventional left wing of the party.

As the 2008 primaries now limp towards their last gasp, the success Obama has enjoyed among the media and with public has resulted in crippling hopes of unifying his party, never mind his country.

Just what the media wanted. And the Republican party, a Dem candidate with no substance. See NowPublic story Why doesn't Obama give up?

Of course McCain is in favor of change.  He is a Neocon.  The question is change to what?  Advancing the Neocon dream?  It seems that is what the American voters are about to throw away.

Of course McCain is also better positioned to deploy the "insane leader" game theory that Kissinger is was so fond of with Nixon. Who knows what kind of button he'll push when he gets up from his nap... keeps the despots guessing.

Hey dont kill the messenger here, I am just posting a story, with my opinion that what do Americans want experience or a fresh face?  Considering the state of the world concerning Terrorism, perhaps Obama can effect change, time will tell if the world despots will take him seriously. Who knows Obama may turn out to be another Jimmy Carter, nice guy, but perhaps unable to deal with Terror, with McCain, he may have experience in dealing with those who wish America harm, hopefully he will be mellower though and use diplomacy,  if that fails, he definitely will know what to do next.

I do thank everyone for your comments and point of view.  But then we are all Canadian here, with the exception of Rene, so it will be nice to hear from more Now Public American readers viewpoints.

I'm not convinced that Obama can't throw a punch.  He's singlehandedly defeated one of the most powerful families in American politics already.

"Singlehandedly"?!? Don't be naive, M! And it's a close tie. It most cases there should be a runoff, at the convention. The Dems who are crying for Hillary to quit are just too lazy and too cowardly to confront her on the issues on the floor of the convention. or maybe they are 'closet' Republicans.. Don't forget, you're an observer not a participant, though I admit what happens in our country has effects on yours..

Obama is all smoke and mirrors, no substance. Just another cheerleader. Wasn't one enough?

Singlehandedly? Hardly.

The Clintons one of the most powerful families in America? Not even close. Speaking of powerful families, how about all the Kennedy help for Obama? You know, the guy who did it all by himself.         ;}

The only pup I want is the German Shepherd one in the picture. Really. I want him!

Too Bad Colin Powell didn't run, now there is a Big shepherd. I bet could kick some serious ass.

As for the shepherd, my neighbour's dog  Hoover, why Hoover? Well you have never seen him clean a kitchen floor when food is spilled on it, actually most time Hoover gets the food before it hits the floor, he is that quick.

Course you have  to see our Milo (Ferret) ride the vacuum cleaner when I am vacuuming, it's a riot.

McCain will offer no change.  Stay the course in Iraq, Invade Iran, continuing to spy on the American people just as Bush administration is currently doing.   Just four more years of the same BS.  Him trying to distance himself from Bush is purely for political reasons.  I mean think about it, with Bush's approval ratings it doesn't take a rocket scientist.

My concerns with McCain, other than the obvious blunders already demonstrated, is that he is clueless to our foreign policy.  He STILL does not know the difference between Sunnis, Shiites, Al Qaida, or Iran.  He admittingly knows nothing about economics.  He changes his point of view more than Michael Jackson has changed his nose.  And McCain has a history of corruption leading back to his involvement as one of the "Keating Five" where five politicians were caught and charged with accepting very illegal kickbacks.  Obviously nothing has changed as McCains campaign has been heavily funded by illegal lobbyist money.  Change?!?  No...It will be the same and riding on the coat tails of the Bush administration, it will be worse!
