Real ID Act: Q&A with CNET

There is plenty of confusion over Real ID: how it works, if it works, and what it's for. Also, not all states are even on board, so equal access to federal buildings and even travel will no longer be guaranteed, or so it seems.

The Real ID law is touted by Homeland Security officials as an anticrime and antiterror measure, but is steadfastly opposed by some state governments on privacy and sovereignty grounds. Computer scientists also have raised concerns about how its creation of a national interlinked database would work in practice.
