Real reason for Santorum's hostility to higher education
Rick Santorum has claimed that President Obama, in seeking to extend college education to
more American people, is trying to remake American people into his image.
Santorum though has a different idea of how he wants American people to be. He wants to turn American people into ignoramuses who are too uninformed to see through conmen like him.
One major benefit of university education is teaching people how to see through deception. A conman who tells people one lie after another would understandably be threatened by more people being able to see through his lies. Conmen benefit from lack of education and are destroyed by presence of education on a large scale. So it comes as no surprise that a professional conman like Santorum would be militating against higher education.
University education does not only open doors for people to higher standards of living. It also helps people to be better citizens. The scientific method, political science, and more, that is taught in college, gives people the background that they need to recognize which political leaders are genuine and which political leaders are frauds. To a fraud like Santorum, this is death bell, and he knows it. So he has a bright idea to solve this problem: Play to the ignorance of the uneducated and portray the educated as "snobs."
Attacks on the academia have been a part of Republican agenda for a long time; but not even George Bush Jr. was as aggressively deceptive on this matter as Rick Santorum has been. The science that comes from the academia is at the root of everything that business sells, and
without it capitalism would be nothing more than an exchange of basic commodities at the level it was in medieval Persia. America owes vastly to the academia; and that means also the kind of people who'd vote for Santorum. Without science, not their SUVs, not their big-screen TVs, not their supermarkets, not their air conditioned housing, would exist. And the credit for these things belongs neither to God nor to America. It belongs to science.
The academic scientists generally see it their role to advance knowledge instead of banging heads with people who do not want knowledge. I however am not an academic scientist; which means that I have no reason to not get involved. Rick Santorum is a conman; and to a conman higher education for more people means less votes for him. That is the real reason for Santorum's attacks on higher education.
