Reason To Dine on World AIDS Day_ Join Us_

Organized by the Columbus AIDS Task Force (CATF), A Reason to Dine: 'Pick up your fork and fight HIV' is taking place at select Columbus, Ohio restaurants today, December 1, in honor of World AIDS Day 2009.

In honor of World AIDS Day, The Columbus AIDS Task Force has organized an event called "Reason to Dine" that will take place at select Columbus, Ohio restaurants on December 1, 2009.  While this event is not exclusive to women, it would make a nice excuse to have a girls night out while supporting a good cause.

"HIV is on the rise in Central Ohio and you can help stop this trend. From 1985 to 2002, the proportion of adolescent AIDS cases in the U.S. reported in women increased from 7 percent to 26 percent. That number has grown to about 30 percent in recent studies. According to more recent estimates, approximately 56,000 new HIV infections occur each year in the United States. Of these newly infected people, half are younger than 25 years of age." (source: CEA)

"With HIV infections on the rise, now is the time to make a statement about how we as a community fight HIV disease and stigma. Businesses can help raise awareness on World AIDS Day by participating in this city-wide event. People can support those business by dining out and simultaneously learning about HIV here in Columbus." (source: Reason to Dine)

Participating restaurants are listed at the source in alphabetical order, but refer directly to the Columbus AIDS Task Force's Reason to Dine website for specific locations (particularly for chains), donation details, and any updates.
