NP Rank:
Red, White, and Blue Trash: America, Meet Your Next GA Senator
Well, it's happened again.
Some white man living in Georgia had a recurring flashback and thought it was 1850 or 1950 and he could do anything he wanted to a black woman, and he would get no punishment for it, or just a slap on the wrist.
And he was right.
For the moment, that's all he's getting. Because in States like that, and my own included, and Mississippi to the left of us, white on black crime has never been punished severely... until the Feds step in.
And the Feds are considering, rightfully so, to step in, in this case.
Before I started to write this, I decided to check something. I went to drudgereport.com to see if this story, of a white man beating a black woman in Cracker Barrel - in front of her child - was even mentioned.
It wasn't.
As you may or may not know, Matt Drudge's site leans so far to the far right it almost falls over.
But almost at the very top, was a link to the story about the white kid getting beat up on the bus up North.
So to the right, to conservatives, a white kid getting beat up is a top story, but a black woman getting beat up isn't worth mentioning.
As some of you may know, I write a monthly column for a minority owned newspaper in the town where I live. This month an irate woman called the editor to complain, "Why don't you do a story about Acorn?"
The editor explained her views about Acorn, then told the lady she could express her own views, in the monthly paper, if she so desired.
Now that offer was a local offer, made by a small monthly paper. But even in this small town, that offer is not really extended by the "big paper" in town, where I, personally have been shut out of expressing an opposing opinion, for more than seven years now.
But what about national news sites. Surely they must offer to print opposing views.
Guess again.
That same offer doesn't seem to apply to a lot of national right wing news sites... like drudgereport.com. They don't say, now let's hear the other side of the story.
I don't recall ever seeing a story there, that wasn't pro-conservative, meaning pro-white. And it's not that they are not receiving such stories - because I myself have sent them some. It is because they will not print them.
And that is where women like the irate woman get their news: sites like drudgereport.com and news like Fox News.
Where is her anger about national news sites that only print stories when a white person is the victim?
Where is her anger when "her" news site exxagerates the size of a Tea Party march by Ten times, so it will look on TV like it was HUGE.
Where is her anger when a man stands along the parade route the President will travel... with a loaded gun?
She doesn't seem to have any. All she wants to know about, all she cares about is Acorn.
This will be one of the shortest columns I have ever written, I'm sure.
Because I just want to say this:
In this beautiful, wonderful nation of ours,
there is still Red, White, and Blue Trash...
(Some of which are in the State and Federal Governments)
who still think it is ok to beat up black people
and drag them by chains down roads all over Texas
but where it is still death penalty material for a black person to fight a white person.
People, BOTH are wrong.
Both. Do you hear me?
BOTH. BOTH. BOTH. BOTH. BOTH.
And that is why I am for a strong Federal government.
Because many states have NEVER been concerned about equal justice for all...
Until the rest of the nation has to smack them in the head about it
to knock some common sense into them...
through the power of a strong Federal Government.
When are we, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Texas, Louisiana and South Carolina
finally going to grow up?
The last time the Federal Government left the South alone
Three thousand black people were lynched and hundreds and hundreds of thousands received very substandard educations for years and years
And out of fear they would be struck down or killed by men like the Georgia man, millions could not vote...
Until the Feds stepped in and made the states and their people grudgingly give blacks the rights they had ALWAYS justly deserved.
Now they will have to come down here again...
Because all white dominated Southern government will do to their own...
is a love tap slap on the wrist... along with an unsaid apology, "We're sorry we have to do this to you. Cause you know, we just lovvvve what you did."
Not me. And not more and more white people who are fed up like me.
Feds, come on down. I welcome you with open arms.
And so do all others who believe in JUSTICE and FAIR PLAY.
Just be prepared: There are probably already grooming that Georgia Man
to be a politician.
And I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he has already raised 1 million dollars in 24 hours like Joe Wilson did after his rebel outburst.
America - meet your next Senator from Georgia.
Will Bevis.

Just curious. Did you REPORT the story to Drudge? There is a link to report stories. Or are you just sitting there in your sanctimony and judging Drudge for not knowing about it? Was CNN covering it? The left bastion known as MSNBC? How about HuffPo?If you didn't report the story to Drudge, I submit you are equally culpable.

{translation}
There's no problem here because I can rattle off a whole bunch of false trails to lead people down that don't address the problem at all.
What is the Latin for argument by deflection?
at 11:25 on September 19th, 2009
In latin I want to say it is "Ignoration Elenchi". I could be wrong. It is often known as a red herring argument.

I have sent drudge both links AND emails. They withdrew one story because of what I sent them, but they never acknowledge WHY they withdrew it, which was because the story was not true.

The top story on HuffPost right now, is more on the Edwards affair. Tell me Huff Post never prints the truth, even when it hurts.

Yes, CNN reported it. The sad thing is that she is with the US Army. This didn't matter to him, or the fact that her 7 year old daughter was with her - he still beat her, to the ground.

I do not think all of the South can be characterized as such. You are going basically be the Civil War divide. But then why did you leave out New Mexico, Arizona, and parts of California(about half) and Nevada.
Texas especially cannot be characterized that way. A person from a small town would probably experience culture shock if dropped of on Congress St. in Austin. Most historically rascist (et al similiar qualifiers) states cannot accurately be descibed as such today. Not as a whole anyway. There are pockets of such, but then pockets exist eveywhere.

When was the last time Kos or Huffington posted a story by a conservative.
at 16:55 on September 19th, 2009
Anybody has the opportunity to post on KOS. Anybody. Can you say that about drudge?

Because in States like that [Georgia] and my own [Alabama] included, and Mississippi to the left of us, white on black crime has never been punished severely... until the Feds step in.
I'm shocked, and I'm sure that most Americans are too, to hear that "white on black crime has never been punished severely... until the Feds step in." I was under the impression that the Southern U.S. amended its ways many years ago and that as a result, blacks and whites were arrested on an equal basis according to the particular crime.
at 16:58 on September 19th, 2009
Sorry, Roy, but that is fantasy land. Check the prisons to see how much longer blacks get for the same crimes whites commit. It is still very unequal. It would be interesting to know how you came to that belief. If there was one source you could remember, so it could possibly be tracked down. I don't think you could find any liberal source which would say such a thing.

In general, I was under the impression that the south amended its ways in regard to equal treatment among the races. I can't site a source and I don't know whether it's true or not. I never really thought about it to be honest with you . . . I just assumed. If you say that blacks are treated differently within the jail system and that blacks are discriminated against by local law enforcement, I'll take your word for it.
But do you think that it has anything to do with money? I've known quite a few poor white guys that were arrested and thrown in jail. They were down too. The amount of time that they spent in the can was comparable to the amount of time that their equally destitute black counterparts spent in jail. Perhaps it has nothing to do with "race" and has everything to do with cash on hand.We can all fudge statistics to suit our ideology and put our own racist slant on things. Unfortunately . . . .
at 19:40 on September 19th, 2009
Race and cash go hand in hand. Remember the old saying, Last hired, first fired? As a poor white, would you like to have a court appointed attorney, who will get nothing out of the case, and so will put the minimum possible into the case? Now, would you also like to have the burden of being black, and having a lawyer who was forced to defend you, even though they might not like you because of your skin color?
I myself have relatives that have spent time in jail. I have yet to hear one of them say, "Yeah, when I was in there the white cops called me white trash and redneck and cracker."
I believe there is little same color harassment, whether it be white against white, or black against black.

Yes, I agree with StandUp... I have seen again and again the harshness with which blacks are treated by the law. Perhaps it is not quite true that white on black crimes go unpunished, but there is inequality there, in the courts, in no small measure. I had a professor who did consulting work within the US Prison system, and someone in the class asked if the races were treated equally, as progress would have us believe. Her response : "No way." I have an in-law who is a detective, ( I do not like him, at all) and he and his detective friends, pepper their speech with, "and we picked up this nigger", etc. It raises the hackles of any decent human being. I am afraid to say, if I were a black person, I would be a Van Jones or a Jeremiah Wright. My nature absolutely recoils with revulsion at iniquity and hypocrisy. (smkovalinsky posting on AGK)
