Religion, the Savior or Destruction of Society and it's people who live by passages written by scribes or cleric long after the religious leader has passed on, often misquoted, and always written under the vision of the followers of the deceased.  All who lived in the Dark Ages and who made their own self perceived wishes into law and most times those who did not follow the letter of the religious edict were stoned, burned, drowning, hanged, drawn and quartered, tortured or all of these. These acts were not seen as revenge but to free the person of evil demons and cleanse their souls for heaven.  Freedom of individual thought was heriacy under penalty of death.  Fortunately many of these Dark Age Religious edicts are long dismissed for what they were, to control the minds of the people of those countries, unfortunately even as I write this Op/Ed a few religions even today still adhere to the barbarity in which their Religion allows centuries after Mad Men wrote them. This barbarity results in religious wars, torture, death and cultural genocide of races for non believers or Infidels.

Certainly none of the above apply, when the original prophets told their followers to practice peace, love, understanding and good will to mankind. Then Clerics once the prophet is dead put their own artistic license to the Holy Book by Stating, Oh yeah, the Prophet told me in a vision, I am allowed to kill, rape, molest,control, bomb, slice of heads and wage war on all non believers, including children and do whatever the Hell I want, as long as I use the Prophet as an excuse, and you will gladly pay me in gold and silver for the privilege .  Can you see the hypocrisy in all this?

Certainly the Clerics today need to control their flocks through their own self perceived misinterpretation of the Holy Book under penalty of Death.

One wonders why the original prophets, who are all knowing and spiritual do not strike these clerics down dead, perhaps the original prophets may have thrown up their hands in disgust, and think Okay, everyone kill yourself into oblivion and we shall deal with those responsible on Judgment Day on your (Clerics) way to HELL!

For these Clerics, the word "Ignorance is Bliss" is their best ally!
