Jim Corbet Hunter turned conservationist was born on 25th July In India. A Tiger reserve in Uttarakhand is named after him.

Local historian Gopal Bhardwaj recollected the contribution of legendary hunter-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett on the eve of his 135th birth anniversary which falls on July 25.

Showing the camping pressure cooker used by Corbett during his hunting expeditions in the forest, the historian said that it was used by the hunter to prepare his favourite biryani.

The “Made in England 1917” pressure cooker is made of iron and has an airtight lid. Wood or charcoal was used as fuel for cooking in the middle of the forest.

A great man. More information about the dude (and his prowess with a gun) here. His conservation work was way ahead of his time and he should be better known and remembered by the world outside India for sure.
