Repression Intensifies in Moldova
4-14-2009: UPDATE
While waiting for the response of the involved political parties to be interviewed by Now Public, Radio Romania International has reported the appeals of the opposition to the Western World about the fate of those arrested.
A UN representative in Moldova has denounced serious human rights violations in the country and Romania continues to monitor the situation. The President of Romania accuses President Voronin of Moldova of attempting to "raise an Iron Curtain across the Prut River" which is the border between the two countries. The Romanian President has decided to not respond in kind.

4-13-2009 UPDATE:
The webpage of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova [PLDM] reported plans of possible manifestations.
The webpage of the Communist Party of Moldova [PCM] released photos of the "damages" in the "revolt" with the caption: "Is this Liberal Democracy as practiced in the West?".
I translated the webpages from Moldovan or Romanian to English since Moldovan or Romanian are related to Spanish.
An invitation to be interviewed has been sent to all of the parties involved including the Governing Communist Party. It remains to be seen if there will be a response.

While atempting to establish contacts within Moldova including the conflicting parties, Radio Romania International has reported on the situation of Moldova which is deteriorating.
The following political parties such as the Liberal Party, Democratic Liberal Party, and Our Moldova have united to form a press release which talks about the ongoing revolt against the Communist Party Rule in Moldova, the offer to recount votes, and the expulsion of Romanian Diplomats and Journalists.
The Opposition Parties also commented on the blame game being used against Romania for what is ocurring in Moldova. The Voice of Russia and Russia Today have reported on Parliament Employees commenting "Moldovans would never destroy Parliament".
There has been a confirmation of the death of one journalist in a police station as Moldova has converted into a "second Belarus".
The Liberals, Democratic Liberals, and members of Our Moldova has concluded that the offer to recount ballots is seen as a tactic to divert attention from the problem that there was a list filled with names of people who are deceased or have emigrated from the country.
The Liberals, Democratic Liberals, and members of Our Moldova are asking the International Community to intervene to "stop the mistreatment of the young people and the violence in police stations". They are also collecting evidence to prove that the elections were rigged.
It remains to be seen what will transpire.

Thanks for this report, AlvarezGalloso. There are conflicting reports about what was really going on in Moldova. Some parties claim the revolt was fabricated and was really just an excuse for extensive looting by local criminal gangs. Others say the elections were indeed rigged, and violations occurred. However, the flags of a foreign country (i.e. Romania) mounted on Moldova's Parliament do seem alarming to me. I can't imagine anything similar happening in Canada or the U.S., which is what's perplexing the international community, I think.

Thanks for your comments. The flags of Romania and Moldova are similar. I am trying to get to the bottom of this by inviting the political parties involved to an interview. At the present time, none has come forward to answer my invitation. I even sent an invitation to the Communist Party of Moldova Youth Group [PCM] sinced their webpage stated that they are "open to invitations for a dialogue with foreign journalists..".
