Republican Flyer Touts: Obama "Not Who You Think He Is."
The Nypost.com reports that flyers are being distributed in Missouri and Virginia, with the approval of the McCain-Palin campaign, attempting to again link Senator Obama with acts of terrorism.
The article reports that when asked if he was proud of the flyer, Senator John McCain stated, "Absolutely.".
The article begins:
Republicans have unleashed a blistering mailing against Barack Obama that invokes the 9/11 attacks with a disturbing image of a jumbo jet and a warning that the Democrat nominee isn't "who you think he is."
The attack flier reportedly has been landing in homes in Missouri and Virginia - two states that the Democrats have been working hard to convert to blue in November - in the last few days, according to Politico.com and Time magazine's "The Page" Web site.
It further states:
The front cover shows a plane with its nose aimed squarely at a few travelers in an airport waiting area, and warns, "Terrorists don't care who they hurt."
The image of a plane in conjunction with terrorism was a clear reference to the airplanes-as-weapons attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Inside the mailing, by the Republican National Committee, is a picture of an angry-looking Obama pointing his finger as he talks, and a headline that reads, "Barack Obama thinks terrorists just need a good talking to."
Also from the article, including the flyer's final proclamation:
And it concludes, "Barack Obama. Not who you think he is."
Asked by reporters if he was proud of the mailer, McCain promptly replied, "Absolutely."
Obama's campaign ripped the RNC and McCain for the flier.
"The fact that John McCain is actually proud of this deplorable mailer is another indicator of how dishonorable his campaign has become," said spokesman Tommy Vietor.
"The narrow, polarizing campaign he's running is part of the reason why Gen. Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama as the leader with the judgment to keep America safe and respected in the world."

More lies frtom McCain-Bush-Palin. What a disgustingly small-minded campaign that man is running. Just more evidence that McCain is Boy George II. I used to think McCain had honor.
If you believe this malicious twaddle about Sen. Obama, he is not who you think he is. If you do believe it, you are among the pant-wetting scaredycats who prefer to bargain away rights and liberties to Big Brother for "safety". That mindset of fear and cowardice is more dangerous to this country than the wildest dreams of any terrorist or enemy state.

I believe that McCain used to have honor. But when he found that honor doesn't win elections he auctioned it off for a shot at the title. Sad that so many people sacrifice what they believe to get something they believe to be better, and sad that he should be one of them.

Karen Hatter, I thought he tried this approach already and it didn't work? I might just be getting confused however.

You people who now find McCain dishonorable because of this campaign are a bunch of closed minded idiots who think Obama is gonna personally write you a check because you have your hand out. You NEVER respected this man no matter what you say now because you are as anti-american as Michelle Nobama and her husband Hussein. Why don't you get a job like the rest of us or better yet, why don't you move to a socialist country because the United States of America, land of the free and home of the brave, with all it's ideals of democracy will be gone should the Socialist Nobama get elected. Wake up! I for one do not want a welfare state, but isn't that what Obama's people expect? What a joke you kool aid drinking mindless can't think for yourselves lets have Keth Olbermann do it for you idiots really are!

If NO-Obama doesn't like it, perhaps he should stop dodging and lying about his associations and background
Who cares what Colin Powell thinks. He's not relevant, and just another black man voting black.

"What a joke you kool aid drinking mindless can't think for yourselves"
What delicious irony. Is referencing a preference for Obama as drinking Kool-Aid one of the new Republican talking points? If you weren't filled with hate and fear maybe you'd realize how non-sensical your arguments are.

Have you ever heard of George Gordon Liddy? He's someone McCain has said publicly that he admires.

For almost two years of campaigning, orchestrated, measured attempts to shroud Senator Obama in a cloak of danger and mystery, questioning his birthplace, his upbringing, his education, his associations, his family, with all questions nudging any who will so lean, toward the conclusion that his background shows he's un-American, an Arab and a Muslim, who is associated with terrorists.
This scenario has been principally allowed to go forward, fostering fear, allowing all the disinformation to fester without challenge, except for a few individuals, from within the Republican Party.
The Democratic Party has not engaged in, as a strategy, the tactics of alienation and fear, creating and using the spectre of 'foreigner' and 'un-American', as they have sought the office of the presidency.
There is an inherently disturbing flaw within the Republican Party that has allowed this atmosphere to flourish that reveals many individuals, official and unofficial representatives of the Republican Party, don't fear any repercussions for their actions in promoting their own isolationist agenda, if that is what it is.
I do not believe that the national body of the Republican Party is unaware of these actions. They may be at the time they occur but, since so many have occurred now, there has been ample time to rein these alleged loose cannons in through issuing some internal directive.
Since that hasn't occurred, this is indicative of some breakdown in the Republican Party's chain of command and communication or, there is another reason those who have chosen to do so continue to do so, without fear of any serious repercussions for their behavior.

That is disgusting and infuriating. His entire campaign is to feed the ignorant. What a pity for our country that a Presidential candidate is acting this way at such a time. Shame on you, McCain. Your acts of desperation have crossed over the line into outright disgusting. I have lost all respect I had for you during this election. And to think, I voted for you in the primary 8 years ago. YOU are the one who is not who I thought you were. SHAME!

Are you trying to say people can not honestly look at Barack Hussein Obama's background? Does he get a free pass because he is for abortion, a democrat or a minority? Or is there another reason? Why can't backgrounds be checked and questioned? Please explain.
at 15:18 on October 23rd, 2008
i guess there is no explanation; probably all three.

I'm not reading anymore comments about how McCain should be our next President without the "poster" declaring what Tax Bracket they're in!
Why? Because absolutely no-one in their right mind would believe that Gramps/Barbie should be in the Presidential/Vice-Presidential positions unless they are: prejudice, ignorant, or making more than $250,000.00/year. Oh Wait! They're all the same person...

Ignoring your ad hominem rants, I actually used to respect McCain. That was when McCain seemed to have integrity and actually would speak truth to power. Now power apparently has laid down the rules to McCain and he is talking and walking an entirely different game now.
I don't think the John McCain of 2000 would respect the John McCain of 2008.

No one is saying that at all. What they are saying is that half-baked Alaska lies (palling around with terrorists) and McCain's double talk on Ayers are trying to create an issue that doesn't exist using fear and innuendo. What is being said is those issues have been checked and have been shown to be false trails and empty charges.

I think McCain spent too long in that POW camp and now he's just a POS with a pitbull for a pet.

The problem, Bill, is that "they" are not honestly looking at Obama's background. They, and we both know who "they" are, are using outright lies, deliberate bigotry and scandelous distortions to cast Obama in a fearful light. Karen has outlined some of the specifics for you. There are plenty of others.

You obviously don't do your homework. McCain is a man of honor, that is why he hasn't brought up Rev. Wright. He said he wouldn't and he didn't but should. He's an American hater. Bill Ayers is an unrepentent domestic terrorist, Rezko is in jail for shady real estate deals, Flager is a priest who hates America, Rashid Khalidi who teaches Middle Eastern studies at the University of Chicago and who was a part of the PLO. These people are all supported by Obama and likewise. Did you know that Obama gave Acorn $800,000.00 to get out the vote. Acorn is supposed to be non partisan and gets $31,000,000.00 from the government and guess what? They only recruit democrats!! My tax dollars are going for a candidate I don't support!! I am sure if this were in favor of the Republicans, it would be all over the New York Times...instead of Palin's clothing which will be donated to charity. By the way, your VP candidate makes millions and has only donated $3600 to charity!!! Ever! But then he has a habit of opening his mouth and inserting foot. And in his case I would use the quote, "Your better off to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid, then to open it and remove all doubt".
