NP Rank:
Republican psyche and demographics
Confusing to me
I am trying to figure why there are so many Republicans. You see, their policies favor the extreme rich. At best, that is 3% of the nation. So, somewhere between the top 3% and maybe 44% or 41% of the total are Republicans. What are their motivations?
It could be fear. They might fear that any change for the better of the bottom half will mean they have to give up something.
Republicans are diehards and stand by their men. They like Cain, maybe because he is old like many of them. Republicans like older candidates, says one of the articles posed here. Youth favor Obama.
In the wake of Cain’s sexual harassment problems why do people stick with him? 9-9-9 doesn’t add up. That can’t be it.
He is controlled by the Koch brothers – the wealthy establishment has Cain under control – maybe that’s it. He’s a fast food service business man. Maybe Republicans think they can run the nation like a fast food chain.
“Poll: GOP voters dismiss Cain allegations
By Carolyn Kaster, AP
Updated 3:51 p.m. ET
GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain went back to campaigning and promoting his 9-9-9 tax plan on Friday, making no direct mention of the old sexual harassment allegations that have roiled his campaign this week.
Cain spoke at a Washington conference sponsored by Americans for Tax Prosperity, a group with ties to the Tea Party movement that's funded by billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch.
A new ABC News/Washington Post poll out today shows the allegations stemming from Cain's tenure in the 1990s as head of the National Restaurant Association haven't made much of an impact.
Seven in 10 Republicans in the survey say the allegations don't matter when it comes to picking a presidential candidate. A majority of GOP and GOP-leaning voters, or 55%, say the allegations are not a "serious matter."
But the poll, taken Oct. 31-Nov. 3, shows some challenges for Cain. Among the 39% who say the allegations are serious, half say it makes them less likely to support the businessman for president.
"If views of the seriousness of the issue were to increase, Cain's support could be at risk," ABC polling director Gary Langer writes in a memo accompanying the survey.
The National Restaurant Association says it will decide today whether to release one of Cain's accusers from a confidentiality agreement so she can issue a statement.
At the American Dream Summit, Cain made only passing reference about being in the news this week. "I've been in Washington all week, and I've attracted a little bit of attention," he said.
He did allude to a New York Times story about his campaign's ties to Americans for Prosperity, the organization sponsoring today's conference, and its billionaire benefactors.
Cain defended his relationship with Charles and David Koch, calling himself their "brother from another mother and proud of it."
In other developments, Cain's wife reportedly will not do an interview tonight with Fox News. Gloria Cain has "apparently had a change of heart," in the words of The New York Times.
During an appearance on Sean Hannity's radio show, Herman Cain said Thursday that his wife is "200% supportive of me" both as a candidate and as her husband.

“Youngest voters back Obama; Oldest back Romney
(CNN) - The 'millennial generation' overwhelmingly supported the Senator Barack Obama in 2008, but surveys and analysis from the Pew Research Center find support from younger Americans eroding.
Despite the decline, voters under 30 still represent the strongest area of support for President Obama and Democrats. Currently 50% of 18-30-year olds say they lean toward Democrats, versus 58% in 2008.
In a potential matchup with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Obama handily wins among under-30 voters by a margin of 26 percentage points. Older voters tend toward Romney. The oldest range of voters, from 66-83, favors Romney by 10 points. In terms of approval of Obama's job performance, no age demographic – including people under 30 – rates the president above 50%. The Pew survey finds 49% of people under 30 saying they approve of the job the president is doing, compared to 44% for people ages 31-46, 40% for the 'boomer' generation (ages 47-65), and 40% for 66-83 year-olds.
Declining approval ratings among younger voters is paired with another troubling downturn for Democrats: youth engagement in the ongoing political process. In 2008, 28% of people under 30 said they had given a lot of thought to the presidential candidates. In 2011, that number has dropped to 13%.
Similarly, 17% of 18-30-year olds say they are following news of the election closely, compared to 24% in 2008.
The discrepancy in those figures may be explained partly by the lack of a Democratic presidential primary in 2011, compared to a hotly-contested race in 2008. Since younger voters still lean toward Democrats, the 2012 Republican race may be of less interest.
The Pew Research poll also mapped voter anger among the different age demographics, finding that as voters grew older they became angrier. Thirteen percent of under-30 voters said they were 'angry' with the government, compared to 18% of 31-46 year olds, 26% of 47-64 year olds, and 30% of 66-83 year olds.
The Pew study combined two polls to determine the age gap in political preferences. Both were conducted by telephone of adult Americans. The first, conducted Sept. 22-Oct. 4, was among 2,410 adults and had a sampling error was plus or minus 2.5 percentage points. The second was taken Sept. 1-Sept. 15 from 2,013 adults, and had a sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.”

The only people blind to this obvious liberal media manipulation are those self-righteous liberals who can feign moral outrage like a Hollywood B movie actress can turn on the tears. Then again those under thirty who claim to represent the 99% are "occupying" Wall Street for stealing their 700 billion. They are not "occupying" GM or Chrysler or Fannie-Mae and Freddy-Mac. The value of the under thirty vote appears to be the cheapest to purchase. Obama was able to do that with a shout out and a wave to the "occupiers" as he left a meeting with the financial institutions, his pockets full of newly acquired campaign funds.

We'll see. Go figure.

What has been most interesting about this is I have not heard or read any conservative or Right Wing proponent, up until now, express any comment regarding any form of sexual harassment being wrong.
It seems they've been too busy defending Mr. Cain even though particulars of none of the alleged incidents have been fully revealed.
Mr. Cain's deflection has so successfully confused those among the TEA Party Republican Party that are enamored of him that they haven't even considered the fact that sexual harassment is not a family value.
At last count, two of these incidents are not alleged allegations that lead no where, just talk in the air. The incidents were reported by the two women to members of the National Restaurant Association, with at least one incident having corroborative witnesses. For these two incidents, settlement payments and agreements were the result.
The Cain campaign has been responding to these actual facts as if this is purely a matter of he said, she said, just talk in the air, without witnesses or a paper trail, which I know the Cain camp does wish didn't exist.
If this was all handled outside of the court system, as in charges were not filed in court, the payments might be considered hush money.

K Street Lawyers would never settle if Cain was not guilty.

Sexual harassment that can be purchased away is more than likely the reason for the charge of sexual harassment. One of the most nebulous crimes of all the PC "moral" crimes.
From all that has been said it seems that the NRA had the problem of unwanted "media attention" and paid off Cains accusers before a public inquiry could take place. Too bad for Cain the women only wanted the money and not justice for his monstrous behavior. He now has this liberal trial by media character assassination to deal with.
As for Cain being enamored by the Tea party is purely progressive hyperbole. Every Republican is courting the various Tea Party movements but, none have yet been endorsed to represent the Tea Party. It's not how it works. The Tea Party is independent of the Republican Party and will remain so. The Tea Party members will elect anyone from either Party who champions the Constitutionality of government policy making, the rule of law and the rights and freedoms of the individual.>br>
Being thoroughly rejected by progressive Democrats from the start, dismissed as "hicks who cling to their guns and bibles", hasn't enamored Tea Party members to the Democratic Party. And Democrats have, and will continue to face electoral push back from conservative Democrats, Independents, and Tea Party members as they come to their election cycles as long as the Democratic Party is dominated by the 'progressive' extreme left-wing.

Typical response -- sidestep the truth of the matter. There are no morals Republicans. They act like Bill Clinton. He was a victim too. Right?

Accusations as truth are not [the truth] for the rest of us. We like our facts of the matter to be given with out attaching a political agenda. Two weeks of continuous liberal media character assassination is plenty of time to bring forth all the players. We know where Cain is, now where are his the four sexual victims?

The facts are coming out, shrouded by a legal agreement to keep the lid on them.

Legal agreements can not stop our moral outrage concerning acts of sex or even where sex may be implied. Legal agreements...pffft.
