Conservative Commentator Michelle Malkin has a simple Message for Republicans: Clean your own house.  Sounds a bit like Jesus during the  Sermon on the Mount, "Why are your trying to remove the sliver from your brothers eye, when you have a log in your own".  First remove that log by focusing on yourselves.  Conservatives continue to miss their calling.  Clean up. but first let it start with me.

The rotten American Conservative Union/David Keene pay-for-play scandal underscores a point I’ve made over and over and over again:

The GOP can’t attack the Democrat culture of corruption (my new book comes out July 27) until it cleans its own house first.

The John Ensign mess keeps getting worse.

Stubborn, selfish, prevaricating Mark Sanford keeps embarrassing himself and conservatism.

And there’s another sex scandal on C Street.

Grass-roots conservatives are livid and lashing out.

We’ve got major battles on the Hill and fundamental principles to defend.

Show the corrupted, Beltway-infected, power-drunk Republicans the door.

And get back to work.

Frankly, I am disappointed that the GOP leadership in the US House did not head this off earlier. Foley should have been taken to the woodshed a looooong time ago. However, at least the GOP still is much better about cleaning its own house. The Dems are so accepting of behavior like this that it does not come across as abnormal until mainstream America speaks up. This the whole reason why Dems keep losing - they simply are living in another very bizarre world.

Thanks for your insightful comment.  I tend to agree that the GOP will drop folks like a hot potato for bad behavior but still a party who claims family values and morality must live by a higher standard.  Any behavior problems by the GOP puts them in the Hypocrisy category and even though man is a fallen race... our leaders should be above reproach.  Self policing is important in getting leaders who will keep the focus on legislation and the people they represent, not on their moral failures.
