Republicans: Divorce Yourselves From Right Wing Radio Hosts
I've been a registered Republican for almost thirty years. Nowadays, however, I consider myself an independent, because the Republican party is way out of touch with the concerns of average Americans. When I hear talk radio hosts such as Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity, et. al spout the merits of the so-called "free market system" (and how total deregulation is the way to go), among other things, especially in light of the recent financial meltdown and high unemployment rate, it makes me wonder if Limbaugh, et. al are any different from the "elitists" and Country Club Republicans that they often rail against. Indeed, Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity, et. al are hardly men of the people. I think that the Republican Party needs to divorce itself from the likes of so-called right wing talk radio hosts (not all, just the elitists) come back down to earth, and set about, in earnest, re-establishing a connection with the average American voter. America's small "r" republican form of government, in spite of its flaws, is preferable to virtually all other forms of government. And I firmly believe that history bears out my assertion. I, and millions of other Americans, don't want to see our country subjected to a grand socialist experiment . . . and once America goes down the socialist road, there's no turning back. The time is ripe for a socialist form of government to emerge and take hold in America, and like all socialist governments, dictate every aspect of our lives. The Repulican party is solely responsible for the "ripeness" of socialism in America, because the Republican Party lacks foresight, and above all courage and the strength of its convictions. I know that many Republicans have given up all hope, because they feel that America has already gone down the socialist road. I remain optomistic, however, and I don't share their dire conclusion. With that said, America will lose all vestiges of its small "r" republicanism if the Republican party continues to believe that talk radio hosts such as Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity, et. al. have any idea as to the concerns of average Americans and what average Americans are confronted with on a daily basis. One glaring example of how much Limbaugh, et. al, are out of touch with average Americans, and why I deem them to be elitists, is their position on health care. They would like nothing better than for the entire health care and pharmaceutical industry to be completely and totally deregulated for the sake of "free-market" competition, laissez faire and caveat emptor capitalism, and other such ideological nonsense. But on the other hand (the hypocrites that they are) they'd like nothing better than for malpratice attorneys to be regulated in the form of tort reforms and caps on monetary awards that plaintiffs receive from malpractice lawsuits. The American health care system is no where near as efficient and patient-friendly as Limbaugh, et. al claim. Ask any average American, that is on a private medical insurance plan and spends over a thousand dollars every month for medical services, what he or she thinks about the American "health care" system when they have to wait to see a doctor for upwards of three months. And nowadays, many privately insured Americans, who expect to see their doctor, wind up seeing a "nurse-pratictioner". In the elitist and out-of-touch world that Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity, et. al live in, along with the Republican party, it is quite acceptable for Americans to simply suffer and die if those Americans don't have the financial means to afford health-care coverage. It is also quite acceptable to Limbaugh, et. al, for pharmaceutical companies to put out any drug that they want on the market and let the buyer beware. And in Limbaugh's, and those of his ilk's opinion, when it comes to mal-practice lawsuits, why should a doctor be subjected to a lawsuit if he or she is an incompetent and, as a result, kills you or one of your family members during a botched operation? Afterall, in Limbaugh's world, it's up to the buyer to beware--and if the "buyer" dies at the hands of an incompetent doctor, it's the buyers fault for not picking the right doctor. JEEZ! I don't want to have anything to do with the Republican party if it continues to allow the likes of Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity, et. al, to speak for it. But I don't want talk radio to be subjected to the "fairness doctrine" either--once we go down that slippery slope, it's bye bye to the first amendment and the dominos will fall precipitously. The party of Lincoln has turned into the party of the elitist and capitalist pig and as such has no empathy, or regard, for the welfare of its country, let alone the welfare of the average American. Shame on the Republican Party and its mouthpieces on talk radio . . . .

This is pure nonsense. The so-called right-wing radio hosts are the only public figures taking on the Democrats and President Obama's ugly statist agenda. The GOP is a typical consensus party: it must be pushed and prodded to do the right thing. You seem like every other Axelrod troll ("I'm a longtime Republican but the party just doesn't represent me anymore...boo hoo hoo.") Don't think you're fooling anyone.

These right-wing talkers (like "Limbaugh, Medved, Hannity, et. al.") have huge numbers of listeners. Their listeners are largely independent thinkers, who tend to agree with much of what the right-wing talkers say. It seems that makes them "men of the people". The political left (and like-minded people) generally considers these listeners to be lemmings. The Republican party needs leadership. Right-wing talk radio is not that leadership, but to imply that carreer politicians (or for that matter, nearly any current politician) are more "men of the people" than the right-wing talkers is nonsense. The Replubican party should grasp the views of right-wing Americans instead of listening to left-wing pubdits suggest ways to improve the Republican party.

YEAH MDF (not verified)! How many identities do you have? Why don't you just state your full name, on this site, as I have, and have a go at it? Unless you step out of the shadows and reveal your true identity, your thoughts, opinions, and beliefs, are meaningless. BTW: Are you one of those "Rush Is Right" morons? Guys, or girls, like you would wet your pants at a "right wing" party. You need to get a new compass in order to determine who is right and who is left.

Matthew Vadum (not verified) --is that really your name? HA! Verify your name boy or girl and then we might be able to engage in an honest and open discussion. Anonymous punks like you are persona non grata in the world of thoughts, opinions, and beliefs, and, therefore, anything that you have to say is meaningless until you own up to your true identity. Are you up for the challenge boy? If not, piss off and climb back into your "anonymous" hole and stay there until you muster up the courage to crawl out of your hole and stand under the spotlights so that the world can take a good look at you. I didn't post my sincere and honest thoughts and opinions so that some little "anonymous" piss-ant can take piss-ant shots from under the cover of piss-ant shadows. I've got bigger fish to fry boy!
