Republicans do the bidding of the oil companies?
Republicans stated that we need the Keystone Oil pipeline to ship oil from Canada to the U.S. O.K., I thought we needed to improve environmental standards in regards to the pipeline, especially when it comes to important underground water that it might potentially pollute, but that I thought was a fair position. But they went out and voted against a requirement that all oil and oil products from the pipeline be used by Americans and not to be exported.
But, I thought the point of the pipeline was to lower oil prices for Americans? That is what they said after all. Or, was it just to pad the profits of oil companies that give Republican politicians money? They also voted against a requirement that those companies that owe money on leases they aren't paying on, to pay them before they get new leases.
They also voted against an amendment which would have required an estimate of the economic impacts, which would include job losses, of a worst case spill. Such as the one in 2010. Republicans state they are for middle class businesses but when they do things like this, but you have to wonder, are they for middle class businesses harmed in the Gulf of Mexico or giant oil companies that give them money?
