The Washington Post reports that the latest Republican National Committee (RNC) spending report for February, filed by the Federal Election Commission, reports lavish spending on hotels, limos and private jets.

Besides the posh hotels and fancy transportation, the RNC are taking exceptional heat for the $2,000 spent at a lesbian-themed, bondage nightclub (Voyeur West Hollywood). The high-end strip club is apparently a Hollywood hotspot for the stars.

An RNC spokesperson insisted that Michael Steele, chairman of the RNC, "was never at the location in question, he had no knowledge of the expenditure, nor does he find the use of committee funds at such a location at all acceptable.”

Republican "Fiscal Responsibility"

Steele has been scrutinized for his lavish spending this year while claiming fiscal responsibility. Steele has raised $96.2 million during his tenure, but he has spent $109.6 million.

What types of products and services were included in February’s spending?

  • $17,000 in private jet travel
  • $13,000 in limousines
  • $9,000 in Beverly Hills Hotel
  • $6,600 at Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons
  • $15,000 at the W Hotel in Washington

The Committee also planned a midwinter meeting in Hawaii, setting them back more than $43,000 before airfare.

Why doesn't Michael Steele get fired? Why aren't there calls for him to step down? What a disaster the Republican Party is with their leaders. Why was he selected as chairman in the first place?

This is a very good point. I'm surprised there haven't been more vocal suggestions... or threats rather of this.
