Earlier this week Sen. John McCain falsely claimed that government run healthcare systems in foreign countries have not worked (even though those foreign countries rank higher than the US in health care in a recent study).

Now, Sen. Judd Gregg has joined Sen. John McCain in a slimy trick: ordering an estimate of health care costs, seizing an incomplete report and attacking the health care plan.

Today, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee began marking up Sen. Ted Kennedy’s (D-MA) Affordable Health Care Act.

Republicans pushed for the incomplete HELP legislation to be studied by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), pretended that the agency scored the entire bill and then tried to obstruct the effort by complaining that the CBO had not yet scored the full proposal.

During the hearing, Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Judd Gregg (R-NH) argued that the hearing be postponed until a full cost-analysis is available.
