The resident of Mussoorie condemned remarks of OP Uniyal President Nagar Palika Mussoorie as utterly irresponsible.OP Uniyal attacked SDM Jharna Kamthan over the issue of inspection in Nagar Palika Mussoorie.SDM Mussoorie in surprised inspection had found more than dozen employees absent from their seat. OP Uniyal taking a strong view on the matter had lashed outing media on the working of the new and young SDM Mussoorie and had alleged high handedness by her. He rued the fact that SDM did not inform him before the inspection other wise he would have assisted her in the drive.OP Uniyal also complaint about the matter to the dm Amit Negi regarding this. Nayab Tehsildar coming out in support of SDM Jharna Kamthan said that it was a surprise inspection which had to be done discreetly and it was under the jurisdiction of the SDM to conduct such raid. He also added it was nothing new and such raids have been conducted in past too. The congress Party members assailing OP Uniyal on the matter said that it is unfortunate that such incident arose and showed the incompetence of the board and they had lost the grip over there employees.Manmohan Singh Mall said that OP Uniyal instead of thanking SDM over the job which he should have initiated was making molehill out of the hole Jot Singh Gunsola the congress MLA From Mussoorie said that the SDM had full right to inspect Nagar Palika officials or any govt office for that matter. The sources in The DM office are of the views that as the rules are not clearly defined so SDM was correct in her decision. The common man on the street supported the action of SDM and said that the employees had become nonchalant reached the office on their whim and fancy and had no fear of Nagar Palika President.

Mrinal Kant was of the view that such inspection drive should continue for the benefit of common man in future too.

Reacting strongly to the action taken by SDM Mussoorie Jharna Kamthan  against  Municipal employees Chairman Nagar Palika Parishad OP Uniyal criticized her  claiming that she did not have any right to inspect Nagar Palika when elected when elected representative are in charge of the Palika.

He was speaking in context of action taken by SDM on absentee employees in Nagar Palika.SDM had found in surprise inspection that 11 employees were enjoying a paid holiday.

OP Uniyal standing steadfastly in support of these employees said that only he had the right to punish or reward his employees and SDM had trespassed in this matter. OP Uniyal also said that it is a mystery, why SDM chose the Palika and smelled a conspiracy of people who are opposing tremendous development work in town.

He further said that SDM has just overlooked the other major problems regarding administration which are under her jurisdiction like Police dept. which is reeling under pressure due to lack of force and more so SDM had no idea of the working of the Palika as she was residing in Dehadun.

The SDM Mussoorie Kamthan refuted the charges levied against her and said the whole exercise was done in accordance with the rules. Complaints had been received in respect of certain employees. She maintained that she had right to inspect any government office and carry out inspection of any government employees. Such inspection have been conducted I past too.

The District Magistrate when contacted said that the incident is most unfortunate and SDM ought to have acted in much more responsible way and should have informed the President Nagar Palika before making such decision.

 He also said that the action against the absentee employees will be taken after the president Nagar Palika has submitted his report.

With this incident the swords have been drawn between SDM and Palika which does not augur well for the hill station town of Mussoorie.
