Canadian Retailers accuse China of manufacturing toxic products for Canadians.

Canadian Retailers feeling the profitability crunch, especially during the holiday season suggest Health Canada's testing and personal exposure limits for lead and cadmium may be too restrictive and rigourous than the industry standards in China.

Currently Canadian Retailers rely on overseas third party laboratory analysis to be provided by Chinese manufacturers, analysis which always seem to give favourable analytical results on these toxic substances used by Chinese Manufacturers in the manufacturing of these consumer products.

If history has taught Canadians anything, media reports regarding Chinese manufactured products from soup to nuts from toys containing everything from asbestos, toxic metals to hazardous chemicals in jewelry, childrens toys to toxic ingredients in foodstuffs. This, regardless what their third party laboratory analysis states, continually shows Canadians and the Canadian Manufacturers a seriously flawed system, including a Chinese culture rife with corruption.

Chinese consumers whose children have died horrific deaths after consuming foodstuffs by Chinese manufacturers are legendary, only coming to the light of day when Western media outlets report these occurrences.

Toxic metals in Chinese products  such as jewelry, toys and other products purchased by Canadian Manufacturers seem all too common when outsourced by these Chinese manufacturers, with the health effects taking their toll on people developing over a short period of time and possibly contributing to birth defects or mental development in children.

Retailers pointing at Chinese manufacturers as the cause should not allievate Canadian Manufacturers of their due diligence to Canadian Consumers, and certainly accusing Health Canada of overly protecting Canadian consumers show Canadian Manufacturers their long standing unwillingness to change the status quo.

Canadian Manufacturers it  appears are more concerned with protecting their bottom line of corporate profitiability and damn the torpedoes when it comes to protecting the health of Canadians.

I am not a betting man, but I guarantee you nary a Canadian Manufacturer would allow their child or grandchild to suckle on a toxic piece of jewelry or toy from China, yet alone feed their own child questionable foodstuffs of uncertain toxicity outsourced from China.

Is their Corporate logic okaying the selling to Canadian consumers, with little concern what the health consequences would be to our children?

A more a novel approach at hand, would be to ask Canadian Manufacturers if they are truly serious about the health effects of toxic substances in their outsourced products, can they guarantee a safe product?  If not, would these Canadian Manufacturers immediately begin manufacturing all their products in Canada?

Would that not go a long way in showing Canadians their Corporate responsibility and concerns about our health?  It would also provide much needed Canadian jobs to boot.

Perhaps a non toxic food for thought!
