Rev Rick Warren ISSUES STATEMENT on Obama
LAKE FOREST, Calif., Dec. 18 — “I commend
President-elect Obama for his courage to willingly take enormous heat
from his base by inviting someone like me, with whom he doesn’t agree on
every issue, to offer the Invocation at his historic Inaugural ceremony.Hopefully individuals passionately expressing opinions from the left
and the right will recognize that both of us have shown a commitment to
model civility in America. The Bible admonishes us to pray for our leaders. I am honored by
this opportunity to pray God’s blessing on the office of the President
and its current and future inhabitant, asking the Lord to provide wisdom
to America’s leaders during this critical time in our nation’s history.”SOURCE Dr. Rick Warren

I personally think it was a good choice to avoid further alienating the far Christian right.
"You can't please everyone all the time." (I don't remember who said that.)
The media attention on every detail of Obama is going to get a bit "much" with either "approval" or "disapproval" at every twist and turn.
I am amazed no one is reporting on his bathroom habits and if they are "good" or "bad".
Personally, I would have only had a multi-belief invocation with more than one person presenting it. Sort of like a "team" invocation... because this country is made up of a myriad of religions and this country wasn't found on Christianity, but the freedom to practice any religious belief without persecution.
Oh well, maybe next time, there can be a "team" to do the invocation...
