The story carried earlier on Nowpublic had its affect today with 14 schools converging at Oak Grove School agreeing in unison to revive Sports in Schools.The sports had taken back seat even after hefty was being collected by these schools.

PE Instructors from more than dozen schools gathered at Oak Grove School premises in Jharipani Mussoorie to formulate roadmap and revive Mussoorie School Sports Association. The whole exercise was to bring lost glory of Mussoorie schools in sports. The coordinator of the meeting Hemant Juyal of Oak Grove  exchanged ideas from 12 representatives present from  prestigious schools in Mussoorie and discussed the way forward in this regard. The PE Instructors of the schools present in the meeting agreed that sports were essential for students’ growth and personality development and the sense of competition would inculcate self confidence among them. The meeting concluded with the pledge taken by all present that  inter school sports to start with  will begin with Cricket, Hockey and Throw ball this season and later more games will be incorporated down the road.

Lalit Verma from Manav Bharti International also said that students should be given quality mementos after conclusion of every final so that they are motivated further. Principal Oak Grove School Anurag Tripathi said that Sports was backbone of any residential institution and therefore it was in interest of the institution to revive sports in schools at Mussoorie.He also said that he will make effort in person to promote the students excelling in sports at National and International level. He further said that association will also assist in helping the excellent students financially if need be. He also said that later on joint venture in academic and culture will be planned after this.

Anurag Tripathi Principal Oak Grove later said that the outcome of the first meeting of PT Instructors was positive and it was decided that association will work in unison and meeting of the association will be held every month. He also said that one sport each will be coordinated by every school turn wise.

He also said sports will be initially organised in two divisions and later in accordance with the members more division will be included. The sports which will feature this year are Hockey,Throwball,Table Tennis,Badminton,Athletics,Basket Ball  and cricket He also informed that Oak Grove School taking the initiative will organise Interschool Cricket Tournament beginning from 23rd to 26th April.

 He was glad that 14 schools have agreed to be part of this Endeavour. He was sure that few schools that are yet to consent will keep their personal egos aside if any and join in for the larger interest of the students. It would e recalled that Mussoorie was famous for its annual Mini-Olympic which use to be integral part of Autumn Festival Calendar.

The next PTI meeting would be held in Mussoorie International School and the principal of the schools will meet on 28th to finalize the arrangements.

The parents were extremely happy with this development and they said that after paying hefty fees the outcome was very little but this revival of sports in Schools of Mussoorie will lead to more exposure for their children vying for spot at national level.Ravi Rawat, Paramod Kumar, prashant Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, K.Dechan, A.Sharma, Lalit Verma and other PTI’S were present on the occasion.
