Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government will offer three options at a meeting on evaluating the EU flight ban on Indonesian airlines on July 10 in Brussels, Belgium, Transportation Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal said.
"In essence, the three options focus on cooperation based on the spirit of transparency and accountability. And Indonesia is ready for it," he said on Tuesday.
The first option called for cooperation between the Indonesian Aviation Regulator and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to promote flight safety, he said.
"This option is based on their consideration that the flight ban was issued based on the result of an audit conducted by the ICAO three years earlier," he said.
The second option referred to the results of assessment conducted by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the Indonesia`s airlines, he said.
"The FAA once lowered the Indonesian airlines` rating based on the category of airlines. As a matter of fact, most of our airlines now belong to category one," he said.
The third option followed the Australian government`s step which called for a prior audit before a flight ban was issued, he said.
He said he already announced three options at his meeting with 19 EU ambassadors to Indonesia on Monday. ... (*)
