RI, Sweden to hold dialogue on human rights

"Our two countries have agreed to actively promote the protection of human rights and will carry out dialogue on human rights as a means of exchanging information and experience," the minister said at a joint press conference with Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt here on Monday.

The two countnries were actually not cooperating for the first time in the area of human rights but this time they wanted to do it in the form of a human rights dialogue, the minister said.

"So far, if the understanding on human rights has something to do with political level, now it will relate to the implementation of human rights in an effort to support respect for human rights," Wirajuda said, adding that Indonesia already had an action plan regarding human rights.

In the meantime, Swedish foreign minister said Sweden supported protection of human rights and appreciated Indonesia`s activities to protect human rights.
