This is slow news, I think. The Republican field is dwindling. Biggest news is Santorum. He may be the type of person Iowans and South Carolinians want as opposed to a city slicker. They might like a country lawyer who never practiced law, who tackled getting onto the government payroll and staying there instead.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry will end his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination Thursday and endorse Newt Gingrich, POLITICO has confirmed. An announcement is scheduled for 11 a.m. in South Carolina.

In the end, Republicans will have an unviable candidate and a Tea Party.
